This isn't just the greatest military/war film,its a great psychological/horror/thriller.­..that happens to deal with the subject of the military and war.Apocalypse now of course has those horror/thriller aspects,but i think full metal jacket is stronger.The worst part of apocalypse now is the end.The worst part of full metal jacket is in the middle(2nd act) between each hooker scenes.Still some great scenes in the middle though.It just can't match the complete perfection of the 1st and 3rd acts.

Best thing about this movie was that Lee Ermey was never intended to play the role as GSgt Heartman. He was the Marine Corps spokesman to train the actor.
