  • wasn't Ikeda shihan Saotome's friend or I am in a mistake? :/

  • Well.... they do share some similar approach in aikido, but they are still very different. And i think they have meet only once at some kind of aikido seminar. And they respected each other, a great deal.

Next time when I'll meet with Ikeda shihan, I'll ask him.

    Cheers.

  • Hiroshi Ikeda Shihan is saotome's senior student. This is a different guy.

  • @ pikechris1

There is no DAN in sumo ( srbine )

He means on Day as it is DAN on serbian lang... But there is no DAN or day on sumo..

Ikeda was my sensei also I know him in personal as M. Quaranta to :)))

  • Have fun :)

  • Im beginning aikido now:D its hard but fun.

  • aikido is a excellent. I like a lot aikido but it is the best martialart in the world. I agree with cookpornstar that if you win depend of the af the master. However the advantage of the aikido is that you needn`t be too strong to win a fight and you can win to a stronger person than you

  • ikeda sensei was a master in judo 4th dan, sumo 5th dan, aikido 7th dan, hojo and diverse other traditional disciplines. mister ikeda was a university graduate and was eligible to teach standard gymnastics as a pedagogue.

what a great man, masatomi ikeda - the educator. :)

  • There are no dan ranks in sumo, for god's sakes. Why must people puff up their teachers into demigods???

  • amateursumo . com/ifs/rankjudgingstandards . htm

your proposition about ranks in sumo is herewith falsified.

i never made claims which would make ikeda a demigod. actually he is very ill and has been retired for several years already.

furthermore here is ikedas official biography:

    en . wikipedia . org/wiki/Masatomi_Ikeda

last but not least, he is and or was not my teacher, however i knew him personally.

  • LOOOL Jiu-Jitsu is just the agressiv bad way to win a fight. I do Aikido and i could start a technic with Aikido and finsih in Jiu-Jitsu way. So which Art would win depends of the master not in the ART ;) think about it

  • This martil art can not be used affectivly in real life. Jiu-Jitsu would win over this.

  • I don't agree, I'm taking Aikidó courses for 2 years n I'm telling yeah that Aikidó is the best martial art in whole history!!! Anybody can win agains anyone who studied/s and trained/s Aikidó.

  • I have been studying aikido for about 3 years now and i do believe that if you do not train with sincerity that you can develop weak zanshin. Regarding JiuJitsu over aikido though, if you did effectively take down someone, how many others would you be prepared to defend against while performing said take down?

  • M. Quaranra isn´t flying around. He is just walking into Ikeda technique

  • M. Quaranta isn´t flying around - he is just walking into Ikeda technique :).

  • this is so cool to see sensei Quaranta (now 6'th dan) flying around as an uke ^-^

  • The best
