  • God bless the brave Canadians who gave their lives at the bloody battle of Paschendale. And God damn the Brits who gave the damn hill back 2 weeks later

  • ALL HAIL EDDY FOR HE IS OUR NEW GOD

  • @nikola12nis RIP means rest in peace...

  • @UVxKinu Actually it's supposed to be the latin form, resquiescat in pace. It's just a coincidence that the acronym is the same in english.

  • @retanoab I gotta ask, do you know that from assassins creed? no disrespect, just wondering

  • @LedRush93 I'd really like to play Assassin's Creed, but so far i haven't. Doesn't run on my computer...

  • Lol, maybe it's just me, but isn't it kind of in poor taste that the ad before this was for a Call of Duty game?

  • @Jagerbawmb that was just YouTube trying to be funny.

  • @Jagerbawmb It shows ads based on videos you've watched in the past.

  • Whos that RIP on graves ???

i can understand why are peoples putting hes name on graves of their dead family LOL

    :D

  • Best part at 4:42, great song of their last good album anyway.

  • 1:13 nice groove

  • Anybody who says Maiden "lost it" after a few albums, or that their newer stuff sucks, really need to listen to this song. Not saying the other new stuff isn't great, it really is amazing, but if you wanted to sum up the raw power and intensity of new Maiden, this is it.

  • Fuckin epic....Maiden at their best...Lest we forget

  • On a side note: the War wasn't worth it. LET US LEARN THE LESSONS.

  • I think the degradation in today's music really they don't play enough for themselves. I swear it gives it so much more meaning when you've actually explored it with your own guitar keyboard or whatever.

Of course there's people who will debate whether today's music is worse. Argue that all day sure. But most people on Iron Maiden videos should understand where I'm coming from :/

  • This is my favourite Iron Maiden song. It reminds me of those who died to give us the world we have today. Lest We Forget.

  • one of the few im songs that are epic and doont suck ass....

  • Iroooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon Maideeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen♥

  • Wow. Now this is music and poetry. And this is only my first taste of Iron Maiden.

  • strike outward, die if you must!

  • The logic is unquestionable. Agreed

  • Iron Maiden's best song. and since Maiden is the best band EVER, this is the greatest and best song in the world. UP THE FUCKING IRONS FROM SWEDEN!!!!!!

  • FACT: Passchendale is writter wrong.

  • I love every god damn song from Maiden.

  • 0:00-8:29, I just saw everything that happened at Paschendale. Who needs the History channel when you have Iron Maiden.

  • no original commentaries in this video, all are about top rated roe5745

    .

    .

    .

    Including this one ._.

  • I really love this song because thay remember all the soldiers who fight for there country far away of there houses and families, especially in WW1 Thank you soldiers to save our country from the Germans twice!! Those sick leaders like Adolf H.....!

  • @Stijniboy19 In fact, Hitler considered GB to be his ally and those soldiers you are talking about never had to march into II.World War, if sir Winston Churchill weren't obsessed by vision of defeating Germany. Also I don't know what kaiser Wilhelm's sickness are you talking about.

  • @2456214 Yeah But i dont think anyone could stand back and watch Europe be taken over, although really the main reason WW2 was won was because of russia, if hitler hadnt of tried to take over russia he would probly own the world by now, although iron maiden would of stopped him by now :D

  • 5:34 to 6:15 is just so goddamn glorious.

  • i remember having shivers for hours while listening to this song over and over again

  • you dont need a GCSE in history to know that iron maiden rule :p

  • 'tiri riru tiru riru tinu ninu'''is best part..

  • 1 1\2 weeks till christmas this it what i lisen to

  • seriously fuck off wow, chuck norris is an old man and who fucking cares if he approves some game with kung foo panda rip offs, desperation is a stinky perfume

  • That's really a strange intro...

  • aggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 100600/10 super

  • This is REAL HEAVY METAL, not some screamo, guitar blaring excuse for "music.''

  • @IronMaiden7S7S "Screamo" never claimed to be heavy metal. They're death metal, and don't bag them. Some people (me included) love that shit. Same as I love Maiden, Slayer, 'Tallica, Sabbath and Motorhead.

  • @DeathMetalorgetjized fagggggg

  • @wastinglove69 Am I now? Do you have any facts to base this off, other then I am musicaly open, able to accept bands that you can't? Or are you trying to hook up with me?

  • @DeathMetalorgetjized your a fag for liking those vampire fagbands

  • @wastinglove69 Vampire fag bands.... Hmm... Not sure what you get out of persuing this conversation, which is a repition of "fag"... You're calling Slayer Metallica Sabbath and Motohead "Vampire fag bands"... Are you fucking serious boy?

  • @DeathMetalorgetjized aww someone wants to prove a point over the internet by being intellectual and no dumbass trying to turn it on me isnt working THOSE SCREAMO FAGS ARE FUCKING VAMPIRE FAGBANDS

  • @wastinglove69 Aww, I love you too. How should I prove my point though? Being a mindless jerk like you?

Thing is, I honestly can not just stand there and insult someone over their music choice, lack thereof or intellectual ability. I could point out spelling, grammar ect, but idc, neither do you. My point is quite simply that they are not vampire fagbands. Now, you can keep pursuing this desire to call me and millions of screamo/death metal fans fags, or grow the fuck up aye? Idc.

  • @DeathMetalorgetjized Hey I admire your efforts but it's best not to argue with idiots. What good could possibly come out of arguing with a man who uses the term "vampire fagbands"? (And in capitals no less) Givu man! For your own sanity :P

  • @modplugrad Oops, that was supposed to be "give up man"

  • @modplugrad Idk, the expression arguing over the net is like paralympics, even if you win you're retarded? Think that's it... Idk.

Point was... Okay, I have no reason, except the term fag is offensive to a minority group... Oh, and the fact he's braindead :s

  • @DeathMetalorgetjized Lol the paralympics thing sums up the whole deal quite well :P But I know what you mean.

  • @DeathMetalorgetjized Screamo isn't death metal...

  • essa banda é show o único problema é acreditar num anjo caido que vai cair mais ainda com o nosso senhor descer dos ceu e puni-lo.

  • The riff before the first solo is freaking beyond incredible!

  • UP THE IRONS form Makedonija (not FYROM or Macedonia)

  • 5:35 -favourite bit!

  • Wow. Now i realize how stupid it is for bands to have one lead guitar. 4:39-6:16 is legendary.

  • This is an amazing song.....up the irons.....enough said

  • awesome song, definitely Maiden's worst album cover though lol

  • Lest We Forget. RIP Canadian Soldiers of WW1 AND WW2, and any others since those wars.

  • @MrChrisrwwatts war shouldnt happen its brutal the survivors come out with shell shock

  • @MrChrisrwwatts what about the British, French, German and Gurkha soldiers?

  • @MegaJonny101 If you read my comment fully, I said everyone else who died too, which means, the British and the others you mentioned, but ya know what, even if I didn't mention them, Im Canadian, im first and foremost going to talk about Canada. Not only that, Paschendale is about Passchendale, a Canadian fought battle.

  • @MrChrisrwwatts fair point, now i feel like a dick, anyhow national differences aside were all the same and nobody should have to die in the first place

  • @MrChrisrwwatts yeah, we need to remember that the canadians came first to omaha beach during nightfall and did some sabotage stuff. without em the whole operation would have been a catastrophy.

  • @MrChrisrwwatts how abou Russian, German, Britains, Japanesse and all the others???

  • @traviangeek100 Okay, ive already had this out with someone else, when I say all the others, I mean, everyone else in those wars. But, Im a Canadian, naturally Im going to think of Canadians first, not only that, the battle this song is about was fought primarily by Canadians, just saiyan.

  • Listening to this on Remembrance Day. Seems appropriate.

  • up the irons for the men who died in Paschendale! dead but not forgotten

  • IRON MAIDEN!!!

  • The youth will listen to this music. AND THEY WILL LIKE IT.

  • @StratoArctica9000 yes master ._.

  • Whenever I listen to this masterpiece I'm nearly in tears. What a horrible thing the war is, even though I haven't experienced it myself. To hell with governments, money, power, politics, national borders etc. UP THE IRONS FROM THE WHOLE UNIVERSE!

  • @almirmetallica I swear to god I was just singing this song in the bus, I was about to cry but I held my tears cause people would've thought I was insane.

  • @InfinityDz Only Iron Maiden can write in such a beautiful way, you can actually feel some particular emotions even though you haven't experienced them.

  • @almirmetallica Yes, especially in this song, you can easily imagine yourself on the battlefield. I think it's the best war related song ever - Maiden or other bands.

Plus by the time I listened to it the first time I was studying World War 1 in high school, it was awesome, I felt like I knew something more

  • is this about the first battle at passchendaele or the 2nd? the 2nd was canadians and british and the first was british australian and newzeland.

  • @Grallos1232 This is about the 3rd battle of Ypres, and there were people from tons of different countries at Passchendaele because of colonization. e.g. The Naga people of northern India often built trenches for the British.

  • @Xbawcks4life Jesus, theres a lot of Passchendaele wars... Thank god I was not there...Hell, truley..

  • @Grallos1232 Only this battle was called Passchendaele because it was for the capture of the town, but there were 3 battles on the same line near the Ypres forest.

  • Wow, great song. Has a lot of historical significance for Canadians, love it.

  • The song that first got me into Maiden. 10/10

  • @roe5745 For me, exactly the same story. and even after all the awesomeness of Maiden, i have to say it still is lonely at the top of my favorite songs all time. UP THE MAIDENS FROM HOLLAND, EUROPE

  • @roe5745 same

  • @roe5745 Mine was Aces High.

  • @roe5745 same

  • @roe5745 Mate, this song got me into metal.

  • @roe5745

  • @roe5745 To me it was hallowed me thy name :D

  • 5:34-6:15 made me understand why this song is on fear 2 eternity.

  • My great Grandfather fought at Paschendale. I didn't know this until after I heard this song. Makes me feel very proud now whenever I hear this song.

  • @Powerslave94

Having sex to this means you don't get the lyrics

  • @Bluemeranz I'm thinking he means Dave's solo just made him jizz in his pants.

  • @Reverus or made everyone hypnotized with awesome and they had sex

    THE END.

  • @ArmTheHomeless101 Yeah, that'll be it.

  • war is hell i should know infantyman 05- 06 al anbar province all nyou posers can make your comments but you dont know shit till you see a fellow soldier get blown to smitherenes

  • Typical Great Britain vs Germany war song.

  • This song reminds me of the stories my grandpa told from when he went to war. UP THE IRONS FROM NM!

  • Im glad Maiden made a song about Canadian sacrifice. And they made a masterpiece of it while they were at it! UP THE IRONS!!

  • @firewall1888 well this song is not just about Canadian soldiers it can be about the British, Australians, even the German soldiers.

  • @CK2033 very true... but thats where canadian soldiers earned their reputation as storm troopers who cant be proud of that?

  • UP The IRONS!!!

  • caralho meu iron maiden é muito massa

  • Not so many videos on youtube that over 99% of the voters voted thumps up, but this does, not really a surprise when you hear the quality of this song and Iron Maiden! Up the irons!!

  • @bayernmaiden181 In all reality there are quite a few songs like that... namely things like Powermetal where only fans would even go to look them up... but it's there... Moreover I totally agree with the latter part, in fact this song almost made me cry, I heard whats the price of a mile- Sabaton which made me read all quiet on the western front, doing a report and I came across this. :) ♥ Up the Irons!!

  • being a new yorker this song remindes me of 9/11 and how strong nyc and all of america is. UP THE IRONS FROM NYC!!!

  • 7 people got eaten by eddie.

  • This song about World War 1.

  • back in high school my history teacher would play this song for the class.

  • 4:40 and onwards made me jizz

  • This song really paints a picture and puts you into the actual time and place at the battle of Paschendale. I cant even put this into my favorite song rankings because no. 1 does not do this song justice

  • @ikeman1156 this actually IS my no.1 (yes, before Hellowed be thy name)

  • One of the best songs ever. End of. Epic.

  • UP THE IRONS FROM HUNGARY!!! \m/

  • playing this song with my band in a month or so UP THE IRONS!

  • "Blood is falling like the rain, its crimson cloak unveils again

The sound of guns can`t hide their shame, and so we die on Paschendale" - Awesome lyrics like that give me chills.

  • In a foreign field he lay, lonely soldier unknown grave

On his dying words he prays, tell the world of Paschendale.

  • The awesomeness of Iron Maiden, is about the same level of the sadness of what happened at Paschendale...knowing that I'm living only a few kilometers away from it :(

  • this song along with some others is an example of how maiden can express an image in words and music so well...in my opinion from 5:00 after the 2 solos along with the words and janick's solo its like i can feel the battle...

  • I bought the Dance of Death album in the third grade and i used it to help me fall asleep. I had sweet dreams of War, Deceit, and all things Metal. But this song at 4:41 always had my favorite solo.

  • i am an big fan of iron maiden en from war so this song is pretie good

  • Man, fucking amazing!!! This song is so epic, so fucking great!!

  • Comment removed

  • 2:27 - 2:49 <3333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333

  • 7 people die in paschendale

  • @Thii647 In paschendale die above 700 000 people....

  • @MomentoHomoMori He was just talking about the 7 people who disliked the video. More appropriately he should have said, "7 people were forgotten at Paschendale"

  • @PeasOfCrab That is not something you should joke about

  • @worldwartwo2 Who's laughing? Not me. I'm just reconciling someone's apparently ignorant comment with a logical explanation and offering a comment that'd be better understood.

  • @MomentoHomoMori you don't understand my comment, well, forget, rs

  • This album is great, then again, it's Iron Maiden, but one thing about this album that I believes stands tall beyond the rest is Bruce's vocals. For a metal god of his age, his pipes soar on this album, most notably in the prelude to the title track, but the double octave track that's done on his voice at 2:31 in this song is bone chilling. I wish his voice was recorded & mixed more frequently that way. Dance Of Death, by far, is easily the most underrated and overlooked metal album in history.

  • I get chills every time I listen to this song.

  • @MrSaintTobias So do I, especially at the "Blood is falling like the rain" part.

  • PASCHENFUCKINGDALE

  • @shadowwolfsharingan this songs cool

  • @shadowwolfsharingan Song`s good, but hey we all got different opinions so I respect your opinion.

  • Canadian Corps took Passchendaele on 6 November 1917, ending the battle. Although inflicting irreplaceable casualties on the Germans, the Allies had captured a mere 5 miles (8 km) of new territory at a cost of 140,000 combat deaths, a ratio of roughly 2 inches (5 cm) gained per dead soldier.

  • who this can ben 6 dislikes? this is a eregy

  • what does Paschendale mean ?

  • @Joci1996 It's the name of a battle that took place during the First World War.

  • @Neomalysys Thank you : )

  • @Neomalysys It's not the name of the battle!

The name of the battle was: 3rd Battle of Ypres

Paschendale is the english translation of Passendaele, a town in Belgium.

  • @Joci1996 It's the name of a town in Belgium where one of the biggest battles of WW1 / history took place.

  • 5:34- 5:54 probably the most powerful part of the song. UP THE IRONS!

  • Blood is falling like the rain,

    its crimson cloak unveils again

The sound of guns can`t hide their shame, and so we die on Paschendale

  • 6 persones didn't know the story of paschendale

  • I love the album Dance of Death and especially this song. Such beauty and sense of depth in the music.. Plus the orchestral stuff add a great touch imo.

  • Such a bad album cover. Disappointing.

  • May god rest the souls of the victims of this terrible battle, but may he also praise iron maiden for creating this incredible song.

This has to be one of the most heartfelt, emotional, epic pieces of music ive ever heard, the song structure is flawless, i love the morse code tapping in the intro then adrians beautiful tapping melody that goes over it to add a melancholic tone, the riff at 4.42 is one of my favourites, then the solos that kick in are out of this world, fucking epic.

  • @Macaca91 blablabla god blablabla

  • Summer 1917 -; Battle of passchendaele - One of the bloodiest and muddiest pyricc victories in history

  • AWSOME

  • Best war song ever. SADDEST war song ever. Vivid, glorious, heartbreaking. One of my favorite Maiden songs.

  • Canada came in an owned the nazis when no one else could.. you're welcome..

  • @IMaes7roI

Nazis were the Second World War. The Battle of Passchendaele took place in the First World War. If you're going to be obnoxious then at the very least get your facts straight.

  • @BastasGirl ... sorry, fucked up german faggots.. better?

  • WITHOUT FEAR - THE JOURNEY BEGINS
