I once tipped the medical assistent at the hematology clinique and she allowed me to donate twice the normal quantity, that means 900 ml.of blood.I did it for meal tickets and for cash but aftre that I fainted on the street
i love giving blood at my school. the buses come, and it feels soooo good in there. And they always have the radio on rock. The beds are comfy. And all the water and juice you want. plus snack cakes.and i free t.shrt. .....oh yeh. you get go get out of class for about an hour!! the needle is NOTHING. the only part i hate is that i ALWAYS forget my donor card, so they have to ask me those 10 billion questions. ahhh. so anying.
Gloves are actually for the phleb's protection. They're not sterile. Hell, I keep mine in the pocket of my lab coat. That's not to say they're optional. It's a company rule most of the time.
NO GLOVES!!! Blood collectors would notice this right away, ones who follow the guidlines that govern the safe collection of blood....and for your own safety demand they wear them next time, keep up the life saving!!
DRAIN the VEIN! What a lovely concept, so long as one doesn't go TOO far: a pint or so, whether from one big stick or lots of little ones, stimulates the bone marrow to produce LOTS of new, young red blood cells, a "renewable resource" just waiting their chance to be pricked and entered and drained, once again. How neat is that?
ok i secound that Im a phleb. and where the hell are there gloves! When you give blood again tell them that they need to, its not being bitchy its protecting yourself!
Didn't appear to be a difficult stick, gloves or no gloves! I assume you'll donate again and consider being a marrow donor as well. To register only requires a simple blood test: you don't donate marrow unless someone matches with you.
I've given blood numerous times, so many, I've lost count. I've also given just plasma and platelets. Its not so bad, you just get a lot of scar tissue where they put the needle, but hey, you do save lives.
i tried to donate blood but my BAC was too high lol
