It makes a lot of sense. Big American companies shouldn't have a say in how Chile operates, even if they do buy lumber from the country. This is obviously Chile's problem. People need to get off HD's back on this.

HD is wanting to continue to sell Chilean wood products, most of which are sustainable. But, the dam will flood thousands of acres of land, destroying the native peoples homeland. This is essentially genocide. Regardless of the sustainability of the product, the resulting environmental disaster as well as the destruction of indigenous cultures is criminal and a major violation of human rights. It is time to put people before profits.

Except that Home Depot has nothing to do with the products used at or near the dam, so their profits are not related to the dam project in any way whatsoever.

The Home Depot carries nearly 4,000 products (under their Eco Options label) that are certified to have less of an impact on the environment. The products are shelved right alongside like products to make it easy for customers to have a choice when shopping.

Oh and by the way, I'm from a place that get's flooded yearly after too many hydro damns were installed, so hydro damns are worse than nuclear power for an environment.
