With using your toe, you get all the power of your foot but you have no accuracy. With the side of the foot, you get accuracy, but you get no power. With your toe pointed down, ankle firm, and kick with the laces, you get all the power in your leg, and you get accuracy, however, if you kick the ground, it might hurt.

In Soccer you put your plant foot down in the direction you want to kick and then you kick the ball trying to get the laces as the point of contact (the cleats not the ball) then you want to follow through with the leg and your plant foot may "skip" a bit during the follow trough but its basically the same for any type of field goal, goal kick, PK, etc.

@urmomsmean yes and no i mean its all personal preference you know, but it does help when your able to adjust the length of the spikes to just having a flat stud so you can get lower on the ball (if you have to) with out nicking the tee or ground i have f50s and i play both soccer and football and its fine with me

futball kicking/soccer style kicking is a very difficult technique ... its all about manipulating the ball with the inside or outside of the foot to get swerve on the ball, and if you want to volley the ball (which gives you extra power) you have to hit it with the top of your foot ... and depending at what angle your body position is also determines the swerve of the futball (ie David Beckham free kicks are a good example of body position which gets more swerve on the ball)

make sure your swing is straight, you also need to lean away from the ball aswell. If u really want to learn, you should try and find a personal coach with NFL or college experiance

bad idea to kick anything with your toes...eventually it'll catch up to the kicker and serious problems can come of it, that is if the kicker hasn't broken any toes before hand.
thats because you haven't developed a form yet. just like playing golf, kicking a football is the same way. It's not about how hard you swing your leg (or the golf club), it's all about your technique. Once you learn the proper way to kick a football, the ball will go the same height, same distance every time. if you're a toe kicker in high school, you're either too lazy to work on a good form, you're a shit kicker, or you're a linebacker handling kicking duties.
I kicked with my toe, all through pop warner middle school and one year of j.v. football thinking that was the only way to do it. I switched after I found out about the soccer style, it's a lot better, more control and distance.
There are far too many mechanical shortcomings endemic to straight on kicking when compared to soccer style kicking. If you or your kid are kicking and not doing it soccer style, correct that problem immediately. You'll be pleased with the results once you work out the mechanics.
first of all, kicking with the toe is far less powerful and accurate than kickin it with the top/side of the foot...second of all, the kid taking the "soccer" kick in this video is terrible, i highly doubt he can make it pat 40 yrds
actually you can. it doesnt take a large amount of force to break a bone. ive accidentally run into a friend during football and snapped my right major toe like it was a twig.
i kick soccer style and attempting toe-point kicking shows a major change in how it feels.
if your a kicker it hels to knwo how to kick a soccer ball but toe poking goes where it wants soccerstyle is the accurate kick and remember to keep your head down and have a good follow through

look at Rob Bironas kicking tips, it really helped me, and I made a 47 yard field goal attemp in practice once.

bad idea to kick anything with your toes...eventually it'll catch up to the kicker and serious problems can come of it, that is if the kicker hasn't broken any toes before hand.

thats because you haven't developed a form yet. just like playing golf, kicking a football is the same way. It's not about how hard you swing your leg (or the golf club), it's all about your technique. Once you learn the proper way to kick a football, the ball will go the same height, same distance every time. if you're a toe kicker in high school, you're either too lazy to work on a good form, you're a shit kicker, or you're a linebacker handling kicking duties.

I kicked with my toe, all through pop warner middle school and one year of j.v. football thinking that was the only way to do it. I switched after I found out about the soccer style, it's a lot better, more control and distance.

There are far too many mechanical shortcomings endemic to straight on kicking when compared to soccer style kicking. If you or your kid are kicking and not doing it soccer style, correct that problem immediately. You'll be pleased with the results once you work out the mechanics.

first of all, kicking with the toe is far less powerful and accurate than kickin it with the top/side of the foot...second of all, the kid taking the "soccer" kick in this video is terrible, i highly doubt he can make it pat 40 yrds

actually you can. it doesnt take a large amount of force to break a bone. ive accidentally run into a friend during football and snapped my right major toe like it was a twig.
i kick soccer style and attempting toe-point kicking shows a major change in how it feels.
