It happened a lot in Indonesia, in some cases we have it massive (just like you touch or seen someone in possession then you got possessed, like domino effect). That's a common excuse among people who can't accept the fear of something beyond them. Yes people have mental illnesses but everything can't be explained by mental illnesses. In some exorcisms you see people speaking a language they have never been exposed to in their entire life and they speak in a tone that is completely different then their own normal tone. People try to find excuses to explain something logically but this world isn't perfectly logical.

Usually when someone claims to be possessed they go to a doctor to make sure they're not insane. In some cases they are found to be mentally healthy. Priest don't actually go "Someone is possessed? GET THE HOLY WATER!" They have to know 100% that the person is really possessed. They don't do exorcism for no reason, because they fear for themselves. Not trying to pick a fight or tick you off. I have a question for anyone who knows the answer; How would one distinguish between a demonic possession and someone who has a mental disorder? How would you tell the difference from, for example a schizophrenic person saying they heard demons to someone saying they heard demons?
@aimeechicken Mental Disorder IS possesion, My wife, was manic deppressant, suicidal, schizoprenic, and would often lose herself to another physical voice that would come out of her mouth (a males voice). all classified as "mental illnesses" diagnosed again and again ever since she was 15. Then she went under in the spirit of Jesus' grace when she was 20 years old, collapsing and writhing on the floor screaming, crying, all that good stuff. The doctors can't explain it. she's is healed now.

- Schizophrenic person will show predictable response to 4 weeks course of antipsychotic treatment (fair reduction in abnormal behavior); while possessed person will show an unpredictable fluctuating response.
@aimeechicken as a schizophrenic myself (dont belive me then ask the doctors. i even have a letter proving it.) a possesed person wouldnt say they hear voices they would just react strangely in sort of a random fashion whereas a schizophrenic does it in certain conditions. (in my case its when i get really upset or angered)
The root cause of 70% of psychiatric problems is spiritual in nature (destiny, give and take account, ancestors soul problem, demonic possession etc). So only spiritually evolved can tell whether a person is suffering from schizophrenia or possession.
It is not easy to identify spiritually evolved who would diagnose root cause of abnormal behavior, so best is to provide psychiatric treatment to a person & to complement it with spiritual practice or spiritual healing methods.

It happened a lot in Indonesia, in some cases we have it massive (just like you touch or seen someone in possession then you got possessed, like domino effect). But, once u get used into it, it isn't that scary, just annoying. Possession is just like stranger trying to breaking into your house or hacker who breaking into your system. @Graymoths Not everything in this world is explained through science and medicine. When something occurs and there is not explanation science calls it a fluke or an anomaly. Yes a lot of signs of possession are likely pyschological, but those signs are not as scrutinized (nor should they be and by professionals they aren't) as the signs science and medicine throw out the window because they lack the ability to understand it.

That's a common excuse among people who can't accept the fear of something beyond them. Yes people have mental illnesses but everything can't be explained by mental illnesses. In some exorcisms you see people speaking a language they have never been exposed to in their entire life and they speak in a tone that is completely different then their own normal tone. People try to find excuses to explain something logically but this world isn't perfectly logical.

Usually when someone claims to be possessed they go to a doctor to make sure they're not insane. In some cases they are found to be mentally healthy. Priest don't actually go "Someone is possessed? GET THE HOLY WATER!" They have to know 100% that the person is really possessed. They don't do exorcism for no reason, because they fear for themselves. Not trying to pick a fight or tick you off. I was just saying.

I have a question for anyone who knows the answer; How would one distinguish between a demonic possession and someone who has a mental disorder? How would you tell the difference from, for example a schizophrenic person saying they heard demons to someone saying they heard demons?

@aimeechicken Mental Disorder IS possesion, My wife, was manic deppressant, suicidal, schizoprenic, and would often lose herself to another physical voice that would come out of her mouth (a males voice). all classified as "mental illnesses" diagnosed again and again ever since she was 15. Then she went under in the spirit of Jesus' grace when she was 20 years old, collapsing and writhing on the floor screaming, crying, all that good stuff. The doctors can't explain it. she's is healed now.

Only spiritually evolved can tell; however here are 2 intellectual guidelines:
- Premorbid personality of schizophrenic person is likely to be schizoid or schizotypal in nature (shy, aloof, sensitive, suspicious, insecure) whereas this may not be so in a case of possession.
- Schizophrenic person will show predictable response to 4 weeks course of antipsychotic treatment (fair reduction in abnormal behavior); while possessed person will show an unpredictable fluctuating response.

@aimeechicken as a schizophrenic myself (dont belive me then ask the doctors. i even have a letter proving it.) a possesed person wouldnt say they hear voices they would just react strangely in sort of a random fashion whereas a schizophrenic does it in certain conditions. (in my case its when i get really upset or angered)

The root cause of 70% of psychiatric problems is spiritual in nature (destiny, give and take account, ancestors soul problem, demonic possession etc). So only spiritually evolved can tell whether a person is suffering from schizophrenia or possession.
It is not easy to identify spiritually evolved who would diagnose root cause of abnormal behavior, so best is to provide psychiatric treatment to a person & to complement it with spiritual practice or spiritual healing methods.
