As a student in rural Mississippi, I personally have to deal with lazy, un-encouraged people everyday. And I'm not talking about just the students. I'm not bitter about it, but it's crazy that I have to walk into my high school everyday and looking at students, teachers, and faculty and think to myself, "Come on, man! Show some incentive!" It's one thing if there are lazy students who don't care, but MS's educational system will never be fixed if the teachers and faculty don't care.

Exactly: This is actually a socialist model that never worked. McCain practically scoffs at teacher certification, as if testing teachers would be a bad idea. Teachers need to know this position.

Teachers do deserve more money, the good ones anyway. My fiance has 12 years experience and works over 70 hours/week. I was shocked at McCain;s proposal into the debate to put military vets in teaching positions WITHOUT ANY CERTIFICATION STANDARDS...we need teachers to be more trained...what this really means is: "we will prop up public education and with the tax cuts the rich can spend money on even better private schools...Palin and Bush are poster children for more English education

Some have suggested that might have played a role in McCain being admitted. His academic record was awful. And it shows over and over again whenever McCain is called upon to think on his feet.

Very vaque and we don't lead in the world, we fall way behind mostindustrial nations. Funding continues to be cut. Teachers are underpaid and underworked. ANd we need to make sure every high school graduate comes out on his way to college or with a marketable skill to get a job that pays a livivng wage and has room for advancement. WIth all these jobs being outsourced we need a higher educated population - pay now and save in future on welfare, prisons, crime. Follow the European models.
