  • yea the organ has deteriorated since the original 6 tapes were made - i made a tape the 1st year the carousel reopened - they played just 2 rolls 6633 and 6636 the whole season - needless to say i have all the tunes memorized to this day lol

  • @sousafan100 ahhahaahahah! The thing is, I'm not sure if how it sounds now is entirely due to deterioration. I think the highest registers have been disabled due to zoning noise restrictions or hearing protection policies. Like the "volume's been turned down." That still wouldn't account for the haphazard glockenspiel action. And the drums have never sounded right, or loud enough.

  • @sirnim that's what i told wurlitzer157 - he thinks it's primarily a tuning issue but i feel along with the diabled registers the action is weak on the drums and bells - wurly said that could be a bellows/pressure problem - anyways when i said deteriorated i meant the overall sound quality - it's obviously a combination of factors - well at least it still plays and they have a ton of rolls now to keep it interesting...

  • Roll 6811, tune 5

  • @Wurlitzer157 Right, CPC's collection tends towards the recut Play-Rite compilation rolls rather than the Wurly originals. :D

  • @sirnim

    Ah...

Interesting, I can see why Play-rite did that, it's a good roll. I just assumed it was the Wurlitzer roll as I didn't read the description.
