Correction! This is NAT KING COLE's Version. Charlie Chaplin may have originally composed the 'sound' for this song, it was Nat King Cole that made the very first Smile song with vocals.

@Cayke1 to each his own my friend, but reintroducing classics is about the change they may or may not go through. This is an amazing interpretation, especially with the added R&B style and perfect harmonies. This is a jazz standard which makes it even more subject to change in slight style. The Glee composers know exactly what they are doing when they remake the majority of the songs. This is a perfect example of that greatness. So, smile. :)

The show and the arrangements bring pleasure to people other then yourself, and they did a lovely job of it in my opinion. It was tender and sweet just as I think Chaplin intended it to be.  If you don't like the show or their renditions of songs, don't listen to them. Simple as that! This is 'their' version of the song....

@homashijma I don't know if you've heard the original song, but the melody is, in fact, very present. The melody is present throughout the whole song. Sung when supposed to and played by solo guitar. You must have a bad ear. You are obviously not a musician. Also, this is still considered jazz which is what Chaplin wrote it as. Jazz is subject to improvisation, which is plentiful in this arrangement. Chaplin would be more than pleased to hear this. :)
