  • My method of packing is very simple. I just dip my pipe into my pouch to scoop some tobacco up, then I press it down a little and repeat until I'm satisfied that it is firmly packed. I think maybe I pack a little tighter than most, and it can make lighting a little difficult at first, but I get a nice long smoke without much relighting after that

  • Rope tobacco is also usually super high in nicotine also

    Evan/BOTS

  • Your vids rock very informative, may I make a suggestion, tell us the name of the songs you play, love your music in the background

  • @Sabrevicious I am not sure if it is legal to have music in background so I try to advertize it. This video has a link to the song right below the main window

  • The good ole' match never lets you down. I always get frustrated with my butane lighters, sometimes not lighting and such. Great video.

  • I dont know where to buy rope tobaco.i dont think you can buy it in the netherlands.

  • Hey question: Is the pipe your smoking in this vid a rodhesian or bulldog?

  • a Bullrhesian ;-) Sort of in the middle, a great pipe, one of my faves

  • The close-up of the bowl at the end was useful! When I tamp the tobacco I seem to press down a bit too much, and leave a quite smooth level surface which then is fussy to light..or it makes the next few draws acrid and hot. Good to see what my ash should look like, thanks pipefriend

  • I always tink rope tobacco looks like one of my dogs terds when it's sat in the sun for a couple of days. While dog feces is probably far less dangerous to smoke than tobacco, I'm not touching anything that looks like the stuff.

  • Hi Pipefriend. Hope you are OK. I am smoking Revor Plug and it doesn't take long to rub out. I can do a full block in 5 minutes which will last me a week. Perhaps plug is easier to rub out than rope?

  • I watch ALL your vids, they are SO entertaining,.... and you seem like such a genuinly nice bloke, you make a great end to each day. I always say, a little gentleness in this world goes a long way, and you always round my day off very nicely...Thanks!! Keep em coming.

  • Thanks for the encouragement!

  • for pepolee whome refere to the term rope tobacco its the twist tobacco is what our freind is refering to,,thanks

  • Synchronized puffing ... sort of like July 4th fireworks coordinated to symphonic masterpieces. Entertaining, as always.

I've always wanted to try some rope tobacco just to try it. An article in Pipes and Tobacco suggested that it's among the oldest, most traditional types of tobacco, designed to be carried in the pocket, and was in those early days a medium of exchange instead of money. Their review was it tends to require a lot of manipulation (as you described) to get it smokable.

  • I did a search here on youtube for "rope tobacco" and didn't find anything. Consequently, I have no idea what you're talking about. Can you link the video you refer to?

  • I realy like this pipe! Is it a XL model?

Can you tell me all the measures?

Btw, I buy myself 2 freehand Mario Grandi's

last week; a calabash shape and a apple shape(top grain)...can't wait to fill them with Boswell's Berry cobbler:)

  • On the contrary, I think rope tobacco just makes you smoke-horny :) Like not literally you but a pipesmoker. The cutting, breaking down, drying - it takes about 10-15 mins and I just like that process... it's like waiting for Xmas.

BTW rope tobaccos are faaar more massive regarding their strength. No tobacco made me dizzy until I tried Samuel Gawith's Balck XX and Brown No4... a kick in the head.

  • it sounds like rope tobacco is lot of work. ill just buy a small amount to give it a try thank you for the video.

  • that is a sweet pipe

  • Thanks, I love it

  • there isnt any rope tobacco here in Trinidad but I will buy some when I travel next month.

  • Didnt you just fill the lighter yesterday?

  • yes but had to turn up the flame

  • lol. OK

  • That is just too cool music and how you blow rings to the beat! :-)
