@KingofKpop good fuk these japs, think they badass, i dont want any koreans to think they japanese or blend in to the faggot ass japenese culture, they all can suck my dick
he is 100% pure korean blood. His family came to japan, but he still considers himself as korean, which is why he always has both a korean and japanese flag on his shorts at ufc.
Its also why japs always boo him at japanese fights. If he was really japanese, than why would he get booed at "home fights"?
I suppose Akiyama is what you would call and ethnic Korean but he obviously acknowledges it cause he sports both a Korean and Japanese flag on his shorts when he fights in UFC and has his Korean name written on them.

Koreans like Akiyama after that fight. Both countries abandoned him at a time and accepted him at a time depending on their favors. Both countries do not deserve loyalties from Akiyama and yet Akiyama considers himself Korean and fights for japan in mma bouts with his new nationality.
Ever since the early days, ne grew up in a family who refused to obtain japanese citizenship. In his 20's he went to Korea with a dream of representing Korea's judo team on national level. He has Korean flag on his gi. He came to Korea during K1 Heros Korea event and after he won the bout, he took the microphone and said, "Im not Korean by nationality but I am Korean by heart and by blood completely. Yes, he DOES consider himself Korean, Stop trying to make him look like he is all Japanese.
Just like Mas Oyama, he is zainichi (Koreans who are Japanese by nationality). However, we are talking about whether Akiyama ever considers himself a korean. Yes, he does. Japanese deny that fact since they cannot beat him in a fair fight. Some even tried to distort truth by saying Misaki kicked him in the shoulder instead of the head. That is disproved by camera photo and japanese judges' decision to make it No Contest. Akiyama is Korean-Japanese who considers himself more as Korean.
Ofcourse there's a "difference," but don't lie to me and yourself when you take pride in Kristi, Apollo, Machida, etc...because of their Japanese blood.
So, the same goes for everyone else. It makes no difference what their "citizenship" says, but rather their heritage.
For example, do you think that Ryuji Imada is popular with Japanese? Ofcourse!
Anthony Kim and Kevin Na is popular with Koreans also.
Japan do not count Koreans as one of them. Akiyama is considered as Burakumin (outsider). No wonder he obtained japanese citizenship as adult only to do judo. He is Korean-Japanese, not one of those yamatos. But dont forget that japan treats people like akiyama differently from yamatos through severe discrimination. There are a lot of "japanese only" places in Japan to exclude people of Korean or other outside origins.
It's fighters choice. Akman is Korean. Kang, is half Korean, Kim, is Korean, BJ Penn, is Korean-Hawaiian ( Local born and raised in Hawaii). They all have Korean blood.
but they're fooling themselves if they think they'll get the adoration that REAL Korean fighters get like Hong Man Choi. Now had he been Born and Raised in S.Korea and could speak the language and knew the culture, then I'd have no problem, but the only Korea Kang and Akiyama knows is Calbi yakiniku restaurants in Osaka City.
i can't stand when fighters play up their ethnicity in order to kiss ass to certain fans. Yoshihiro Akiyama is JAPANESE. i've never heard Akiyama Born or Raised in S.Korea and the only Korea he's probably ever been is once or twice, which is a tourist destination. Hes trying to kiss ass to Korean fans. He's just like Tito Ortiz, hes also trying to kiss ass to Mexican fans.
Is it so hard for your small brain to understand that if both your parents are Korean then you are Korean by blood. If Akiyama was born and raised in Antarctica, he is still a Korean that lives in Antarctica. So, his nationality would be Antarctican(?) but his ethnicity would be Korean. As far as I'm concerned, if this were the case, then both Antarcticans and Koreans have the right to be proud of Akiyama. Stay in school because you're pretty dumb.
Just because you're korean doesn't make you good. Akiyama was born and raied in Japan, technically he is korean but the way he lives is like a japanese.
There is a debate about this. In japan, Korean-born are excluded from the mainstream society by severe discrimination. They are deprived of citizenship (which Akiyama had to get in adulthood). The non-yamatos are called Burakumin. Akiyama is Korean-Japanese. Not just japanese. But Japan treats him like an outsider dispite his loyalty.
@kisado from what i heard... he actually just went to japan because he couldn't win first place in korea for judo. so he went to japan cause it was easier? correct me if im wrong cause i dont know much about him.
@MasatoPorPramuk actually he speaks very decent korean and participates in many korean interviews and is very in tune with korean culture as he has strong roots to his ethnicity since his family lasted 4 generations in japan and still remained pure korean.
@MasatoPorPramuk He's Korean man! I don't know about Mexico or Ortiz but Koreans are f...ing proud to be Koreans no matter what - ever since I have known him he has had the Korean flag on one side and the Japanese flag on the other - not kissing ass just representing!
You have obviously never been Korean living in Japan... Korean people who's family has lived in Japan for like 5 generations are still called "Koreans" and minorities by Japanese. It's not like in the US, in Japan, you're either JAPANESE or you're not... No matter what. It's not that they're trying to be rude, it's that they are very careful of their culture and their way of life not being ruined by letting in too many non Japanese people and ideas.
Best Korean MMA fighters = BJ Penn, Akiyama, Dennis Kang...in that order. DHK is NOT a great fighter at all. I'm sorry, but he will be exposed when he fights Parisian.
aki is Korean by birth but grew up in Japan. the country finally allowed japanese born of non japanese families residing to join their olympic squad which he did and won them GOLD in the world championships beating a S. korean
denis has a Korean name "Kang" Korean-Canadian
bj has korean blood but i regard him as USA myself.
He can't compete at the UFC level but was 2-0 prior to the shady decision defeat to Karo Parisyan (a top tenner). This was his only loss thus far. Had the decision gone his way, which should have been the case as any unbiased idiot would admit, then you'd be singing a far different tune.
There are actually three songs used. The first one is a small piece of a variation on the timeless Korean folk song, Arirang. The second song is the National Anthem of S. Korea. I don't know who sang this particular version. And I don't recall the last song.
Akiyama who is Korean will wreck any Jap in his weight class. Kim Dong-Hyun has KOed every single jap he has faced, and now has moved onto the UFC because he was bored of constantly knocking out japs. Akiyama is the #1 ticketseller for Jap MMA. He's always the main event, usually against some undertalented Jap who will get KTFO. Who's the joke now?
... Akiyama is a good fighter but he cheated with Saku and got NC from Misaki. I like Dong way better than Akiyama ! cant not wait for the next dong fight !
take a look at the fight with fedor emelianenko and tsuyoshi kohsaka (japanese), kohsaka won that fight with fedor and hes japanese. and now with kazuyuki fujita recent fight a couple of years fujita rocked fedor that tim sylvia couldn't. kazuo misaki he beated denis kang and yoshihiro akiyama which are two really good fighters. ryo chonan and daiju takase he beated anderson silva which is current king of ufc
As a Korean-American, this lifts my spirit to know that my countrymen do more then just TKD. I knew this already but it feels good to actually see this. I hope that soon either MMA becomes more of the norm in Korea, or TKD goes back to the way it was when it was founded. The latter would probably never happen so I just hope MMA gets more popular in Korea. Still my favorite MMA fighter is Fedor. :)
Why do you Japs, in the Youtube community, always go around and discredit Koreans? I just don't get it. I thought you dirty Japs' ancestors came from Korea and China. Why do you want to say bad things about your roots? Are you Japs all fuxxxng idiots?
Is that what your Jap history teach taught you? Wow! Your history is full of shit and lies! Then, where do you suppose, you Japs cames from? I'm still laughing!!!
... Chinese school history is full of shit too LOL. They talk nothing about the 1989 Square or the culture Rev killing of 1 million chinese nationalist ( not commies).
ALL ASIAN CAME FROM CHINA AT SOME POINT ! End of Story.
Well, there have been chinese people living in Korea throughout history, but they are no more than minority groups like zainichi koreans in japan. Korea since from start and all throughout history was predominantly tungus-altaic race with SOME chinese minorities. However, "japanese" or "yamatos" were Paekje people and other Korean groups for most part, since Paekje built japanese civilization. Koreans went to japan and changed average height of those in archipeligo. Japanese are also altaic race
What is funny is that most japanese people think they are any different from other asian races. Korea and China each started out as own races and civilization. China-huxia and Korea-altaic/tungus. Japanese are majority altaic/tungus of Koreans of yamato dynasty and yayoi and minor chinese from yayoi and jomonjins. Majority of japanese are altaic and tungus. Japan dont have their own race. Just a mixture. Japan (Yamato) started as an off-shoot of Paekje.
I didn't. I was just stating the truth. However, I invite you to look at some of the comments made thus far by japanese people regarding this video. All intensely jealous, hateful, typically sneaky jap comments. bakarism wrote "rape country Korea, fake country Korea". This hidekimatsuzaka clown tried to discount the achievements of Korean fighters by nitpicking at nationalities. An Englishman in Timbuktu is still an Englishman.
Man that's harsh. Can't live without hate? If they say all that shit it's their problem and they'll make look themselves bad. At least if you wanna reply them do it in a educated manner. What they want is to provoke and make you look bad. They are trolls and they won't stop. Empathy bro.
Bj penn is also half korean... lol he sits on top of the list then right??? check it out his moms name is lorraine shin and shes a full 3rd generation korean
look it up on wikipedia. His mom is a 3rd generation korean from hawaii. Her name is lorraine shin she totally looks like a korean lady even though shes from hawaii ahahaha
You're such an idiot... you took what i wrote totally out of context. She is a 3rd generation korean that lives in hawaii and still dresses and looks like the typical korean lady you would find in LA or seoul. So read the comment and enjoy the fact that you found out bj was 1/2 korean. You just wanted to prove yourself huh? make yourself feel better cause maybe for a second you thought you were smarter than me? Genius, kiss my ass
Awesome video, it is nice to see up and coming MMA stars coming from ALL countries.
Ive ALWAYS wondered why NO hapkido practicioners are in MMA, In my town their is a 6th degree black belt in Hapkido and he runs a school.. Ive watched him train and he is CRAZY deadly.. Super hard kicks and punches.
He meditates and punches a brick at his store all day and his knuckles are pure calus. He also has developed almost like a horn on his forehead. It is just a
Hard bump from constantly tapping a bar on his forehead. When I asked him about it he said it was for headbutting because in alot of instances it is quicker to headbutt someone than punch or kick..
I know ALOT of the practices in Hapkido wouldnt be allowed in MMA like Joint manipulation, headbutting etc. But you would think some of the strikes could maybe be useful?
The Hapkido master in my town said that he NEVER would because it is like pitbull fighting but also he COULDN'T. It would be
what's so wrong about an "MMAfan" posting an HL with upcoming "Korean Fighters"? he never once mentioned or made any references to Koreans being the top of any class. so why hate? if you are a fan yourself, which is why you probably stumbled upon the the vid one way or the other, than watch the footage and acknowledge the fact that there are other up and coming fighters out there that are non-white and non-brazilian. there is nothing bad about asian fighters gaining recognition as a whole.
Hong man choi is still better than all of these guys.

kristi is yank not japanese,

real japanese
SougouKakutougiMMA 3 years ago
Ofcourse there's a "difference," but don't lie to me and yourself when you take pride in Kristi, Apollo, Machida, etc...because of their Japanese blood.
So, the same goes for everyone else. It makes no difference what their "citizenship" says, but rather their heritage.
For example, do you think that Ryuji Imada is popular with Japanese? Ofcourse!
Anthony Kim and Kevin Na is popular with Koreans also.
Don't pretend it's irrelevant.
xJuno84x 3 years ago
japanese and korean are nationality. Not ethnicity.
we are all mongoloid. it doesnt matter if his dad is korean or japanese. akiyama is still japanese.
SougouKakutougiMMA 3 years ago

Korean1Kick 3 years ago
but they're fooling themselves if they think they'll get the adoration that REAL Korean fighters get like Hong Man Choi. Now had he been Born and Raised in S.Korea and could speak the language and knew the culture, then I'd have no problem, but the only Korea Kang and Akiyama knows is Calbi yakiniku restaurants in Osaka City.
MasatoPorPramuk 3 years ago
korean is korean.
JinXuanJun 3 years ago
i can't stand when fighters play up their ethnicity in order to kiss ass to certain fans.
MasatoPorPramuk 3 years ago
Is it so hard for your small brain to understand that if both your parents are Korean then you are Korean by blood. If Akiyama was born and raised in Antarctica, he is still a Korean that lives in Antarctica. So, his nationality would be Antarctican(?) but his ethnicity would be Korean. As far as I'm concerned, if this were the case, then both Antarcticans and Koreans have the right to be proud of Akiyama. Stay in school because you're pretty dumb.
kisado 3 years ago 12
Who are you talking too?
xJuno84x 3 years ago
Just because you're korean doesn't make you good. Akiyama was born and raied in Japan, technically he is korean but the way he lives is like a japanese.
BubbleTeaFob 2 years ago
technically he is japanese, his nationality is japanese
romandekkerz 2 years ago
There is a debate about this. In japan, Korean-born are excluded from the mainstream society by severe discrimination. They are deprived of citizenship (which Akiyama had to get in adulthood). The non-yamatos are called Burakumin. Akiyama is Korean-Japanese. Not just japanese. But Japan treats him like an outsider dispite his loyalty.

So what if he beat up a bunch of Japanese guys?!

Tan was a joke. Brown was a wake up call, and he still didn't learn.
He can't compete at the UFC level.
He'll get KO'd by Koscheck, Alvez, Davis, Diaz, etc.
St. Pierre?....c'mon!!!!

As a Korean-American, this lifts my spirit to know that my countrymen do more then just TKD. I knew this already but it feels good to actually see this. I hope that soon either MMA becomes more of the norm in Korea, or TKD goes back to the way it was when it was founded. The latter would probably never happen so I just hope MMA gets more popular in Korea. Still my favorite MMA fighter is Fedor. :)

ALL ASIAN CAME FROM CHINA AT SOME POINT ! End of Story.
SushiWarriorTW 3 years ago
Well, there have been chinese people living in Korea throughout history, but they are no more than minority groups like zainichi koreans in japan. Korea since from start and all throughout history was predominantly tungus-altaic race with SOME chinese minorities. However, "japanese" or "yamatos" were Paekje people and other Korean groups for most part, since Paekje built japanese civilization. Koreans went to japan and changed average height of those in archipeligo. Japanese are also altaic race
KimboSliced2 3 years ago
What is funny is that most japanese people think they are any different from other asian races. Korea and China each started out as own races and civilization. China-huxia and Korea-altaic/tungus. Japanese are majority altaic/tungus of Koreans of yamato dynasty and yayoi and minor chinese from yayoi and jomonjins. Majority of japanese are altaic and tungus. Japan dont have their own race. Just a mixture. Japan (Yamato) started as an off-shoot of Paekje.
Japan's "history"(myth)=wishful fantasy

I know ALOT of the practices in Hapkido wouldnt be allowed in MMA like Joint manipulation, headbutting etc. But you would think some of the strikes could maybe be useful?

what's so wrong about an "MMAfan" posting an HL with upcoming "Korean Fighters"? he never once mentioned or made any references to Koreans being the top of any class. so why hate? if you are a fan yourself, which is why you probably stumbled upon the the vid one way or the other, than watch the footage and acknowledge the fact that there are other up and coming fighters out there that are non-white and non-brazilian. there is nothing bad about asian fighters gaining recognition as a whole.
