Trajan has it's uses, and it's definitely a well designed typeface (if we don't count that hideous hyphen). Unfortunately It's just become a go-to font for far too many a movie poster.

Seems like the art departments at the studio houses aren't given any budget to buy new fonts seeing most people have Trajan for free. Blowing millions on effects I guess means that by the time they get to making posters they have no cash for fonts.

I wouldn't fault the designers but those involved in the process that are not creative professionals.

Even an art director might make choices based on what they know will be approved or not further in the process.

I can tell you that designers definitely don't like butchering great designs for substandard work, such as what happens when you compare most theatrical posters with their home 'video' cover art.

@shrek187 That's because so it's relaxing for our eye to look at because it shows us all the colours. if there was only a contrast between blue and yellow, you will get a headache, and when you then look away (if you looked a long time) you'll be seeing a red square floating in front of your eyes XD
