  • This is beautiful. This man wasn't human.

  • Its annoying going to the record store to talk about the 1968 original press and having the guy tell you that there are no originals in playable condition and trying not to tell him that you own one because then you will piss him off even more because he is an expert who knows nothing about what he is talking about

  • The epitome of Hendrix sultry slippery guitar style that he plastered all over the axis Bold as Love LP

  • fiend bmx

  • So deep.

  • wow this song goes deep

  • Love this song. Sounds like Curtis Mayfield

  • @jasco682 It sounds like Jimi Hendrix :p just saying (get your point though)

  • @jasco682 I thought EXACTLY the same. Same time, too :)

  • @jasco682 Curtis Mayfield was a big influence on Hendrix, especially the way he played his chords

  • Ya think Prince was influenced by Hendrix? ;o)

  • lololol

  • cool

  • Try listening to this song in Windows Media Player... the animation during it looks really trippy lol

  • @marecina123 When Jimi made it he knew what equalizers would do in the future, he was that much of a genius

  • este tema es estupendamente genial y la reputa madre

  • This sounds like Do-Wop to me. Great song!

  • 1970-1980 ´´the Angels will spread there wings´´

    2000-2011 ´´the b!tches will spread there legs´´

    where did it go wrong!

  • @manualmaniac1 Somewhere between "their" and "there".

  • @80sSlowJam -___- you got the point

  • I can always put this song on and just sit back and chill... love Jimi!

  • this song and some reefer and its a good ride!

  • This song is so good. Maybe Jimi's best vocal performance on record.

  • its so weird because i have never heard a complete album by jimi hendrix, except for valleys of neptune . i never knew how much other styles hendrix made and how much better they were produced than most tracks i know.

  • 2 people haven't been to Electric Ladyland

  • @MrRock4evr

2 people have never been to any ladyland at all, I think. ;)

  • I dont know what all the arguing is? Until there is someone that can play with their teeth, behind their back, left handed with a right handed guitar while on 10 fucking tabs of acid better than anyone else no one will ever be better than Jimi Hendrix. No one can argue this point.

  • @porkermcgee To be fair, playing behind the back is possible for most decent guitarists; and playing single notes with the front teeth is do-able and being a fan of the meistro I have done both. As for playing a right-handed guitar upside down, he changed the strings around so that the bottom E (ie the deepest note) was near his chest and the top E was near his waiste. As for the acid,10 at once is questionable unless it was a top-up after relentless daily use. But we love the guy!

  • @aristotle358 he started it though, and yes it was that much acid read his book!!

  • @porkermcgee But as I said, the 10 acid at once may well have been taken due to tolerance build up after very frequent use. If you've ever taken acid then you would know that the more regularly you take it the more you have to increase the dose. And it depends too.on the level of dose in each tab or blotter. A person only needs so many micro-grammes to trip.

  • @aristotle358 i have tripped

  • @porkermcgee You know all the reasons you pointed out trying to make Jimi seem like the best, none of them were valid. The reason hes the best is because he made poetry with guitar. The guitar was almost a part of him. Don't think for a second that Jimis flashy tricks made him the best because there was so much more to him then that.

  • @DaAt0miKniPpLe I am well aware of that man ... just didnt want to sound nerdy

  • This is sort of a "Jimi does Smokey Robinson" song. And it is awesome. Mellow.

  • this spawned the 70's afro-space funk music i think.

  • @Teutonic1250 you got that right!! Bootsy and many others

  • Hi Jimi I like the song ! Thanks my friend a+ andrès

  • can u upload that indian song. i forgot the name. there are two versions here on youtube but i cant find my favorite version. i hope u know what im talking about. thanks

  • @NANDO218 Castles Made of Sand? If 6 Was 9? The entirety of Axis: Bold As Love? Lol.

  • @Transformers2themax i wouldnt consider them all indian songs but i found what i was looking for today. its a special version of cherokee mist

  • @NANDO218 Well, your comment had a little fault in it. Castles Made of Sand definitely has Hindu-Indian edges to it, and If 6 Was 9 is practically a Native-American acid trip. I'm Cherokee, so it'd be interesting to know of the song in question. It's always fun to find more music made by Jimi. The man was such a badass, a lot of his work is still coming out--40 years after his death! I hope vinyl makes a comeback and that they release Valleys of Neptune on record. Vinyl is so original, man.

  • @Transformers2themax its called kpfa tapes cherokee mist 2. im listening to it right now. its great. how pure is your cherokee blood? thats cool. im fascinated with native american culture. i was watching the last of the mohicans earlier. lol. check out the other versions of cherokee mist also. i think it has even more of a native american feel to it. the song is like 7 minutes long just in case you cant find it. they are all good though

  • @NANDO218 Like Jimi, my Cherokee blood is not straight up pure. I have some of it on both sides of my parents as well as some Gaelic. My skin is tannish white. However, if you look at me carefully, you can sort of tell I'm Native-American. I'm very proud of my heritage, considering that I am an original American! Lol. But yes, I too am very interested in the Native-American culture. I'm also very interested in the original black culture, Cajuns, Asians, Jamaicans, Indians, etc.

  • @NANDO218 Just listened to all of them. Out of the three, I'd have to say that the first is the best, in my opinion. Being quite familiar with Cherokee tribe music(Not necessarily through my family but good research), it sounds more authentic to me. I love how it keeps to be psychedelic but at the same time, it's like a Native-American spiritual channeling. I wasn't expecting it to sound so original. I love it. Now I have to include it on the soundtrack of the Vietnam War film I'm screenwriting.

  • @Transformers2themax im not sure which one you mean. is it the one i put you on to?

  • @NANDO218 Yes, it is.

  • @NANDO218 Yes, it is.

  • It's mindblowing to think of all that Jimi accomplished iin 27 short years. What a fucking talent!

  • i want to fuck my girl to this song

  • 2 people have never been to electrric ladyland

  • もう女にも飽きた。それより酒だ。

  • Never gets old hearing this. Complex, beautiful, rich in melodious tone and astral beauty. It makes me cry to think of the music we didn't get to hear due to his untimely demise. People are still trying to catch up with all their electronic wizardary in the studio with what the Maestro did in 1960s with just a 4 or 8 track soundboard. thank you Mr. Hendrix. R.I.P and grace and peace to all who read this.

  • @bbqeatinbuckeye jIMI HAD EM COVERED MAN...ALL I NEED TO SAY....HE WAS ALWAYS TRYING TO GET A NEW SOUND...WOULD HAVE KEPT ON DOING HIS THING BUT HE DIED...SAD DAY!

  • can you put up dear mr fantasy from filmore west

  • the birth of 1970's space funk?

  • Such a fantastically beautiful, powerful, yet calming song. JH was truly one of a kind.

  • When Jimi was in london he fucked so many beautiful white women he was a god of the guitar Nigel and chas were there in the house we got our share only because we made the world wake up to my friend forever, Chas

  • I think this was his best album . Although Are you experienced and Axis not far behind. I had a high school gym teacher who smoked weed and turned me on to Jimi. He would play this on his 8-track! To me it was the coolest. He thought Hendrix was too "heavy" for us to listen to . Probably right lol!

  • The best two minutes and nine seconds of my life...I love you Jimi. You're my inspiration. I'd never pick up a guitar if it wasn't for you. You're the greatest

  • im addicted to jimi, my favorite drugg!!fuck rehab ,if its jimi, i aint ever getting cleann!!

  • Brother has soul. Nuff said

  • In this song, I can feel Jimi's lonliness and hunger of his days in New York, just before he gets discovered by Chas

  • My favorite song by jimi such melody and emotion...He takes me to electric ladyland every time i listen to this song

  • jimi set the bar too high...musicians nowadays dont compare.

  • @TheRandysaurus that statement will last forever

  • floating through psychedelic swirling rainbow clouds watching mountains roll by underneath

  • Im going to electric ladyland tomorrow..seriously ha its a fluorescent art museum in amsterdam

  • I really just cant stop crying... Its too beautiful

  • could've been a Curtis Mayfield tune.... Sounds like The Impressions doing backups.

I doubt Jimi was thinking that when he wrote this gorgeous melody.

Curtis did come close in 1970 with "The Makings Of You"

He probably wasn't thinking of Jimi either.

  • @dowsemeister

Curtis Mayfield was a definite influence on Jimi Hendrix. Jimi played Gypsy Woman(a song that was covered by Curtis Mayfield) at Woodstock. It's that chitlin circuit touring before forming his own band that made him such a great rhythm player.

  • @sharpstat Hey thanks for the reply and agreeing on the Curtis influence! Your right on about that chitlin circuit rhythm playing. Most of those players had strats too.

    Cheers!

  • i have this on record......its like listening to angels sing in your room

  • It's no "Hollywood Undead"..but still ok I guess....

  • @Way2manydoses

hollywood undead is fucking gay dude

  • @djgdgaf Sarcasm is your friend....I'm aware of the fact that hollywood undead is the lamest thing out there since wet toast

  • @Way2manydoses smoke a lil green, you emo teen, then you'll see, what the song really means.

  • @motlencore89 You do know I was being sarcastic right? Back in high school in the early ninety's I used to trip my fuckin balls off to this cd..especially the song1983..the noises at the end, it was hard to tell if the cd was still goin, cause I would keep hearing the sounds for another five minutes...I remember watching multi-colored rain drops bounce up from a steamy black top..swirling colors of mist...I miss those days..who's got some doses??

  • if this aint the greatest a human can be then i'm better off dead

  • @TooChillWill LoLz

  • @peliparado94 y luego yo soy el troll?

  • @TooChillWill LoL Limp Bizkit sucks.

  • THEY SHOULD HAVE A LOVE BUTTON FOR JIMI, THIS LIKE BULLSHIT DOESN'T DO THIS JUSTICE!

  • @rabado1978 :)

  • @rabado1978 how about five stars?

  • @rabado1978 fuck u

  • @rabado1978 fuck u 1971

  • @rabado1978 I agree. I love Hendrix. The like button doesn't do justice.

  • @PassionateGuitarist1 It was their third album.

  • make love, make love, make love

  • 2 feminists disliked this video.

  • That's true, you can't quite duplicate Jimi's playing. SRV can be copied quite accurately if you build up the strength in your hand.

  • @EclipseIMagmaICamo You hit the nail on the head, bro. @nail3r is probably sucking on his own balls as we speak.........right after listening to another Hendrix masterpiece....lol

  • this guy was a mind-projected out-of-phase plasma wave intersticed with gamma and x-ray bursts along octocular crepuscular nightingale foamy tides of phosphor and amethyst.

  • light orange and light green and light gold colored clouds, and a phase-shifted wind or strong breeze blowing as you float through, and end up with syrup-dripping beauties of all colors and features laying around on couches of thick luxury.

  • when i hear this song i picture myself going through a dark place and suddenly coming to a colourfull happy place where jimi is playing his song (my electric ladyland)

  • he sounds a little like Curtis Mayfield.

  • 1 person have never been in Electric Ladyland :(

    God Bless Jimi..

  • im in electric ladyland right now

  • it wasn't,great great song

  • If Jimi died in 1970 how come this song was released in 2000?

  • @josh71111 It came out in 1968, it's the second track on the album "Electricladyland"

  • Jimi plays this a a tribute to Curtis Mayfield.

  • no i havent been to electric ladyland but holy shit i wanna go.. WHOS WITH ME MAN

  • Hey nail3r, In the words of the late, GREAT, Jim Morrison, Why don't you suck a fart out of my ass!

  • Do you have "If 6 was 9" form "Axis: Bold as Love"?

  • @Amedeus95 Yes I do my boy. But I'm sure you can find it here on you tube. I don't want to double post anything.

  • @xXSpartan150Xx Thanks for this beautiful post! This has always been one of my fav Hendirx songs. Love the "Impressions" influence in the vocals.

  • @xXSpartan150Xx How about the flip side of "IF 6 was 9 a song called "No Such Animal" released on Reprise as a 45 back in 1968 or69.

  • @xXSpartan150Xx how bout "south satern delta?" the version that's on a double disc outtakes album i used to have. the cover is red and he's on it. have any idea what i'm talkin about?

  • @xXSpartan150Xx Well I would love to hear the original voodoo child from this album. The song voodoo child (slight return) was great but the Long soul touching original from this album is in a league all by it;s self.

  • @xXSpartan150Xx lol "my boy"

  • I wana go to this place, sounds like a decent place to go on holidays

  • so magical....

  • Woot !! Yay!! Jimi!! so Relaxing

  • This is soooo souful! Wow!

  • I own the album with the naked women on the cover ;)

  • @WoodRatGirl What an honor.

  • @ROCKandROLLinHELL

    LOL I guess so eh?

    It's hard to come across.

  • @WoodRatGirl I don't really care. I prefer the original cover. Those woman look really ugly anyway.

  • I wish I was around when Jimi Hendrix was still alive. It would have been an amazing experience to see him perform in real. I hate just having recordings of him, I wish I saw the true beauty he brought and displayed while performing. I wish I saw the magnificent sounds he brought out in the guitar. <3

  • this song mixes all my favorite types of sounds. i've always loved it. Motown-ish blues-rock with real singing. this is a true soundtrack to life

  • fire it up and let's get mellow :) oh yeah

  • sounds like marvin gaye

  • Awesome..

  • best music to smoke to right here, plus pink floyd.

  • how can people really i mean possibly bitch and complain in their comments when this song is on? if jimi knew people would be bitching and complaining over his own music, i would assume he would of stayed far away from youtube completely. how can you not just get lost in this song?? idk, i geuss im the minority but when i clicked on this song, i didnt expect the comments to be bitching and complaining.. i expected the opposite.

  • It's too bad not everyone can appreciate this.

  • I always thought this was his "statement of purpose."

  • Music is a personal preference, what works for YOU.

  • @nail3r How long have you and Hendrix been going out?

  • @xXSpartan150Xx hahaha

  • @xXSpartan150Xx 5 years apparently.

  • @xXSpartan150Xx Hahaha XD

  • @xXSpartan150Xx LOL sounds like they broke up

  • @nail3r nothing is good enough for us because we are so used to the best

  • @nail3r Nothing is more annoying than a clown that says he's been playing nothing but Hendrix(and SRV) on his guitar(fucking lie..you probably play Black Sabbath and Van Halen as well!) and than turns around and says he is annoyed by diehard Hendrix fans. You really need to only look in the mirror for a loser to hate upon you hypocritical douche bag!

  • @nail3r no thanks

  • @nail3r says the person behind a keyboard

  • @nail3r There's nothing more annoying than someone who has biases like this
