Your points are well taken in large part, but I think that the point of this video is to suggest that McCartney II did NOT learn all about McCartney I. And it's hardly accurate to say that the product of his solo career has been consistently great.

Watching the video, it clearly seems as though the footage has been slowed slightly. You can tell by the sluggishness of the scenery going by. This is why Paul seems altered or stoned. Also, unless you see the entire interview, you are not quite sure what context he is refering to about the band already being set up.
I think what he meant was that it was already set up as in there were already other people involved, and he didn't know how to go about saying, "Hey, I'm forming a band, d'you wanna join?" because he'd never had to do that before. I do believe that is a clue but he could be using the beatles as another word for the quarrymen because you really need to look at the facts and way back into Lennon and McCartney's life to know who the Quarrymen are. so maybe he said the beatles to loose the confusion to younger listeners... i dont know for sure if its a clue or not but its something to look at.

Veggieman87: You obviously haven't read any of the Beatles bios. The quarrymen weren't "set up", they were basically John and couple of his friends that played skiffle whenever they could. They had no agent, they got no bookings, they had nothing. Ask either Ringo or Paul and they'll tell you--The Quarrymen were no band.

@65if2007 because i have done research the facts are there. go to palm lines beatles palm readings and u will see the paul and faul have different palm lines and then go to whatismybloodtype and it states pauls blood type is B but when he took a blood test in 1980 for paternity test it came back A

Paul probably wasn't talking about the Quarrymen when he said the Beatles were an already set up band. A couple of blokes playing skiffle whenever they got a chance isn't exactly a band...at least not in the same sense as the Beatles were....well, an actual band!
