The stock intake is meant to have a recirculating effect, in that it sucks bubbly pre-skimmate into the venturi when the bubbles get up to the neck of the skimmer where the intake is.
Problem is it's so noisy... and it's really difficult to adjust the stock screw in the back of a BC29... anyway good job and I'll probably be trying this to see if it helps.

where'd you get that tube from? what size is it? nice mod. i have the custom stevie cup on my skimmer in my solana and the valve is tough to get to. i'm definitely gonna do this mod on my skimmer. thanks!
Its about a 150L all together with the sump. Yes its a great skimmer Have a look at my other video on it where I did a review. You wont be sorry if you buy this skimmer

Great Video & Easy Mod. I have done it also.
Finally no problems in my RSM Sump when the level is going up (when I close the mains pumps .

After you do this Mod you can only use the new valve as the old one wont work anymore as the tube has been removed

Its the nut and bolt that's used for the clips that hold the fluorescent tubes in place. Sorry don't know what size it is
