When I saw this in the Princess & the frog dvd I was like boring but when I saw the whole movie I was like WOW this movie was brilliant a true masterpiece that you can add to the 1990s fairytales (Beauty & the Beast).
It's the new one, it's not classic, the cast is pretty good. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable cartoon and certainly recommended. that movie was beautiful! the ending when flynn dies and Rapuzel's tear healed him really reminds me of a mix between Beauty and the Beast and Pokemon the First Movie, another one of my favourite movies!
Finally Disney's dream of a successful film has come true, and as for some of us who were surprised as I was that Disney is finally back at the animation game again only in CGI form. I know for some people it may have been upsetting that the movie wasn't in 2D, but if Disney had stuck to its old formula it would have continued to fail in animated films since the side affects happened for a decade. Plus let's not forget that Disney himself made the change from short films to feature films.
But somehow in their move from hand-drawn princess tales to newer technology, the cartoon, however enjoyable, seems warmed over. DefinateIy gonna buy the BluRay when this cartoon would be released. for now i am watching this at freecartoons-us in pretty good quality.

this will not at all be like the original. In the original the person who saves Rapunzel is a prince. Here he's a thief. And the prince is pushed out because he is constantly visiting Rapunzel, but he never takes her out of the tower. VERY different. Still looks good though!

In my opinion, a lot of people clinging to the idea that this should be 2d have trouble accepting the possibility that change isn't always a bad thing.

Don't have a source on this but I heard that the name was changed to Tangled to perhaps gather a larger male audience since generally a lot of guys don't want to admit to going to see a princess movie. ;)
I for one, don't care about the name. It has some commercial use but... It's a name. What's the big deal?
The upside of having the name changed is that Disney is telling their VERY OWN story of Rapunzel. So it makes sense to have a different name.
Alright, so people are complaining about how it's called Tangled. It's a movie title. That's all. Also, complaining about the fact that it's different than the Grimm brothers' version, their version being not exactly kid friendly seeing as the Grimm brothers' tales usually contain some pretty gruesome events (i.e. as in Rapunzel, eyes pierced with thorns.) And if you think it looks stupid then don't see it. Stop complaining and find something else to do.
I feel like the fact that she's a princess, they should have kept the basic princess style. the 2-d, musical and with the actual title 'Rapunzel'. but whatever, i'll probably go see it anyway. she just wont be one of the Disney princesses in my mind which is a shame cuz this story had some serious Disney Classic potential.

I felt the whole "kiss before midnight" or "fairy godmother" was "been there, done that." I also thought some characters were pointless; Louis didn't do anything besides the Ferry boat, and sure, Ray did help them get to Mama Odie, & I like his love for Evangeline, but I didn't see him as a helpful character otherwise. @FlashakaViolet I just didn't see anything innovative about this film. I thought Disney took its checklist & said, "Ok, we've got a prince, a princess, comedy relief, songs, a villain, main character death, a happy ending, magic. Ok, we're good!" It didn't go beyond any boundaries or to new heights besides a black princess. But again, this is just my OPNION. I'm not bashing anybody for their opinions either; I'm providing constructive criticism for what I think Disney could have done better.
I think PatF failed for several reasons. 1. The Squeak-quel came out a week after it, and sadly, kids find that talentless crap more entertaining than real film effort. 2. Some people thought that this movie was an excuse to be politically correct or sell out to Obama. 3. PatF was just not that good. The songs were forgettable, there was little humor, no innovative storytelling, and not nearly as dramatic as the older classics. Just make Rapunzel more compelling & boys and girls will love it!
It's so stupid that they changed the title to appeal to boys. You might as well change Snow White to "Little Men," or Cinderella to "Home By Midnight," or Sleeping Beauty to "The Big Sleep!" IT DOESN'T WORK!

@VallyJohn Even in the original story, Rapunzel DID fall in love with a guy then ran off with him at the end. If you think about it, the Rapunzel fairy tale itself doesn't have much in it for it to be a full-fledged movie. It's inevitable for artists to change the plot around to meet film standards, this happens A LOT in book to movie adaptations too. Honestly? I don't want to see the exact same story over and over again; I want the artists to put their own spin on it and make it interesting.
If they sticked with the original story,it would have the Disney version of Juno.(I read THE original story.)In the Disney version Rapunzel doesn't fall in love with Flynn.She gets out of the tower with Flynn like what any other human being would do.She falls in love with Flynn when he matures (in mentality).What makes you think that the original romance was better than this.In the original story,Rapunzel and the prince *beep* each other and end up having a baby out of wedlock.

@Clarishu I see what you're saying, but from what I've seen it doesn't look like it's strictly about Rapunzel. They've incorporated other tales and added a lot of plot twists, it's not just the classic story we all heard as kids. Think of it more like a parody.
@Zikau All of Disney's tales are twisted around, with the story changed quite a bit. Those aren't parodies. From early reviews, this sounds like it will be a return to the classic Disney of the 90s.

You know what? This is the FIRST time Disney has done a fairy tale in 3D, I say we give it a chance. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE 2D, and hope to see more of it in the future, but there is nothing wrong with Disney trying something new.

@Danachii I totally agree with you-I adore 2D as much as the next person, and although I think that 'Tangled' could have been stunning in 2D animation, Disney no longer has the 'must-see' aspect attached to to their films-if they want to get their popularity back, they have to move with the times. @cheer7780 have you ever heard of exploring new mediums in the animation biz? Disney wants to use new styles in the hope of improving. They just can't stay a 2d animation film company for long. In order for artist to expand their horizons they have to use different tools. People have to get out of the 1930s to the 1990s where Disney was good because its not coming back. Not now, not ever. Look guys I don't believe that the Princess and the Frog didn't attract boys to this movie at all. I think really the reason it's not in the top 10 box office because it came out when Avatar, and Sherlock Holmes had a smash it. Call me an abomination, but I don't mind them going to 3D. I believe 3D is a bit overused, but if they have a good art style I don't mind. I also like that the title is Tangled because it's doing something different, rather than just going for the most obvious titles.

I mean, sure, Disney weren't 100% faithful to the original source in say Little Mermaid and Aladdin, but they're adding an entirely new dimension to "Rapunzel"... it's like another story.
man i feel sorry for kids today. i miss movies like lion king, mulan,aladdin,beauty and the beast etc. they ruled! the 90 s ruled. now we're stuck with 3 D. i dont think its superior to 2 D animation. heck 2 D movies are waaay better. the original is always the best. but disney just dosent get it! i have a feeling this will do worse than the princess and the frog.its such a shame too. this is their 50 th animated feature.

Finally Disney's dream of a successful film has come true, and as for some of us who were surprised as I was that Disney is finally back at the animation game again only in CGI form. I know for some people it may have been upsetting that the movie wasn't in 2D, but if Disney had stuck to its old formula it would have continued to fail in animated films since the side affects happened for a decade. Plus let's not forget that Disney himself made the change from short films to feature films.

this will not at all be like the original. In the original the person who saves Rapunzel is a prince. Here he's a thief. And the prince is pushed out because he is constantly visiting Rapunzel, but he never takes her out of the tower. VERY different. Still looks good though!

Apples or oranges? It's a matter of taste. Don't go hating on the 3d animation just because every other Disney princess was 2d. Celebrate the unique!
In my opinion, a lot of people clinging to the idea that this should be 2d have trouble accepting the possibility that change isn't always a bad thing.

Don't have a source on this but I heard that the name was changed to Tangled to perhaps gather a larger male audience since generally a lot of guys don't want to admit to going to see a princess movie. ;)
I for one, don't care about the name. It has some commercial use but... It's a name. What's the big deal?
The upside of having the name changed is that Disney is telling their VERY OWN story of Rapunzel. So it makes sense to have a different name.

Alright, so people are complaining about how it's called Tangled. It's a movie title. That's all. Also, complaining about the fact that it's different than the Grimm brothers' version, their version being not exactly kid friendly seeing as the Grimm brothers' tales usually contain some pretty gruesome events (i.e. as in Rapunzel, eyes pierced with thorns.) And if you think it looks stupid then don't see it. Stop complaining and find something else to do.

Snow White tried to flee the homicidal Queen. Lion King was influenced by the stories of Moses & Hamlet. Beauty & the Beast was a lovely girl falling in love w/ a cursed monster. I felt the whole "kiss before midnight" or "fairy godmother" was "been there, done that." I also thought some characters were pointless; Louis didn't do anything besides the Ferry boat, and sure, Ray did help them get to Mama Odie, & I like his love for Evangeline, but I didn't see him as a helpful character otherwise. I thought Disney took its checklist & said, "Ok, we've got a prince, a princess, comedy relief, songs, a villain, main character death, a happy ending, magic. Ok, we're good!" It didn't go beyond any boundaries or to new heights besides a black princess. But again, this is just my OPNION. I'm not bashing anybody for their opinions either; I'm providing constructive criticism for what I think Disney could have done better.

I think PatF failed for several reasons. 1. The Squeak-quel came out a week after it, and sadly, kids find that talentless crap more entertaining than real film effort. 2. Some people thought that this movie was an excuse to be politically correct or sell out to Obama. 3. PatF was just not that good. The songs were forgettable, there was little humor, no innovative storytelling, and not nearly as dramatic as the older classics. Just make Rapunzel more compelling & boys and girls will love it!

@VallyJohn Even in the original story, Rapunzel DID fall in love with a guy then ran off with him at the end. If you think about it, the Rapunzel fairy tale itself doesn't have much in it for it to be a full-fledged movie. It's inevitable for artists to change the plot around to meet film standards, this happens A LOT in book to movie adaptations too. Honestly? I don't want to see the exact same story over and over again; I want the artists to put their own spin on it and make it interesting.

Clarishu seemed so perturbed that the Disney movie didn't strictly follow the story of Rapunzel that I was trying to offer a different frame of mind in which to think of it so the movie wouldn't be so offensive to her. @TheHarlequinHatter YES. Finally! lol. It's hard to find a response like yours since everybody keeps screaming and whining, "OH NOEZ I WANTED THIS IN 2D, FUCK 3D *goes on a CGI bashing spree*." Honestly, 3D and computers are the future, and Disney is only keeping up with the times. I love 2D movies too just as much as the next person, but Disney can't only be doing 2D films; they have to explore different mediums and try out new things to reach a broader audience. =\

@Danachii I totally agree with you-I adore 2D as much as the next person, and although I think that 'Tangled' could have been stunning in 2D animation, Disney no longer has the 'must-see' aspect attached to to their films-if they want to get their popularity back, they have to move with the times. Also, who's to say that the same love and dedication doesn't go into CGI animation anyway?

Maybe they changed the name due to copy right issues cuz after all, there was a Barbie movie already named Repunzel and I guess there would be a major dispute...

@XxKinattaxX Could be, I never thought of that...but Disney claims that they changed the name to attract more boys...I think that's stupid, I mean, the movie will still be the same, whether they call it 'tangled', or 'rapunzel'... yes, it's about a girl with long hair, what did they want? A boy with long hair, trapped in a tower? Yeah, that will attract a lot of boys, I'm sure, lol :D

Buy all the dvds of the good shows and movies of when Disney was good and watch them over and over again be a kid for as long as you can. Search up Disney classics on youtube. For God's sake stop complaining and start thinking logically in Disney terms. Sure if Walt was still alive none of this would have happen with the bad shows and movies. (cough) Jonas brothers (cough) Man I have a bad cough today. :)

@cheer7780 have you ever heard of exploring new mediums in the animation biz? Disney wants to use new styles in the hope of improving. They just can't stay a 2d animation film company for long. In order for artist to expand their horizons they have to use different tools. People have to get out of the 1930s to the 1990s where Disney was good because its not coming back. Not now, not ever. Unless we started a riot and marched towards the company. That might work. (Sarcasm)

All I can say is that you can't judge a book by its cover. A lot people are afraid of changes with Disney going into a new style. You have to accept it. Sure the name isn't good but what about the movie itself. The movie hasn't even come out and you guys are already judging based on its name. Come on guys its not that serious. Hate the name but you might love the movie. Accept changes and move on.

Look guys I don't believe that the Princess and the Frog didn't attract boys to this movie at all. I think really the reason it's not in the top 10 box office because it came out when Avatar, and Sherlock Holmes had a smash it. So Literary screw the name changing, should it really matter if the movie is going to be any good?

It should be called "Rapunzel!" I dont care about the name of a movie! I care about the style, the feel, and the characters! Forget trying to please the audience all the time Disney! Walt didnt create all those masterpieces just so little kids could buy some video cassettes off the shelf. He made them so that his style of filmmaking could break the mold and shine amongst other movies! He would have loved for it to be called Rapunzel! Not some modern title to please "male audiences."

Is this going to be animation?! NO! They can't! Rapunzel is proberly gonna be a Disney Princess but they have ruined it because all the Disney Princesses (Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Ariel, Jasmine, Mulan, Belle, Pocahontas, Tiana) are all hand drawn animation! They should have kept it hand drawn animation and kept it 'Rapunzel' not this 'Tangles' nonsence!

Call me an abomination, but I don't mind them going to 3D. I believe 3D is a bit overused, but if they have a good art style I don't mind. I also like that the title is Tangled because it's doing something different, rather than just going for the most obvious titles.

This & Pixar's Brave are the ONLY ORIGINAL films coming from Disney for the next few years! Toy Story 3, Cars 2, Monster Inc 2 & another Winnie the Pooh? Pixar is now the new DreamWorks, sequealizing past hits for profit, while another pooh movie is just to relaunch a dormant franchise! I will see Tangled & Brave at the movies, as for the sequeals, thats when Bootlegs come in!

Everybody,think about this situation.When did the title change?Who changed the title?Was it the directors intention or the executives intention of changing the title?Is the story really that altered, or they just changed the love interest's(Prince Flynn) personality?
The title change was in progress when TPaTF dropped down in box office.
It was Disney's marketing executives intention of changing the name.

Forget the lame title, what's done is done - how do you people know if Disney are staying true enough to the fairy tale that this film should be called "Rapunzel"? If you've read the official synopsis, you'll find there's very little of the original story in there... I mean, sure, Disney weren't 100% faithful to the original source in say Little Mermaid and Aladdin, but they're adding an entirely new dimension to "Rapunzel"... it's like another story.

man i feel sorry for kids today. i miss movies like lion king, mulan,aladdin,beauty and the beast etc. they ruled! the 90 s ruled. now we're stuck with 3 D. i dont think its superior to 2 D animation. heck 2 D movies are waaay better. the original is always the best. but disney just dosent get it! i have a feeling this will do worse than the princess and the frog.its such a shame too. this is their 50 th animated feature.
