  • All the new tracks (and the old ones) are available at the official band website

New album is available on cd and download from the band website and also at Glory & Honour Records

  • This dude has got the voice almost exact! Impressive man! Nice work!

  • YEEAH!... I like this

  • I now have their EMAX :)

  • IF THEYRE A TRIBUTE BAND, THEY ARE THE BEST SO FAR, high priests of the DM temple unlike those violators from brazil and other crap cover/tribute band

  • Funny.

  • it has something mystical

  • is almost mystic i love it

  • i dont get it, this song ... by depeche mode?, who are analog angel?, please somebody help me

  • I like the video and the song.. they sound very like Depeche mode and their look is the same... the perfect hommenage group.

  • Comment removed

  • To anyone interested in Analog Angel, the debut album is called Dischord and it will be available for purchase soon. It has 10 amazing songs and any of those songs could be singles, they are that good! I think anyone who likes Depeche Mode will be truly surprised with the quality of Analog Angel debut album.

  • totally agree with you ! their new album is very good & I am saying this as a DM fan

    also....

  • Oh heck, I just found this song from.. the web :D and I was freakin sure it was Depeche Mode! Some jerk had named it Depeche Mode's in chains.

He sounds a bit too much like Dave :O

  • the TTF comment is partially wrong. Three members weren't in TTF or Thru The Fire (although Dr Strangelove did support Thru The Fire once or twice) but were in a band with Jon Campbell of TTF circa 1986/7 called Professor Product. Jon Campbell sang in a Midge Ure style.

So, the info is partially right. Right person, wrong band.

The track was recorded in Sheffield if I recall (I may be wrong) and the mono compressed mix on the video does not compare with the originals full stereo mastering.

  • ma che so i depeche pezzotti??VOGLIO I MIEI DEPECHE MODE!!

  • Their music lacks energy. I'm sorry, but I'm just not feeling it.

  • lacks energy? Have you heard Consequences of Yesterday, What We've Become or Inner Innocence????

  • They sound very good! I'll take note of this band.

  • This song indeed sounds like DM in mids 80's

But their new songs reminds me a little to "She Wants Revenge"

  • this song sounds really good, but please change it's name! it's not depeche mode's song! Write the real name of the band!

  • The name of the band is at the top of the page!!

They were called Dr Strangelove and are now called Analog Angel.

Check out their website or MySpace profile

  • Yeah, but I think they copied too much.Look at 0:30! That guy look so much like Alan!

  • hairdo and wayfarers do their stuff))))

    Alan's waaaaay prettier;)

  • I know.....DM are much better!

  • Check them out now as ANALOG ANGEL - they neither look nor sound anything like DM.

Album DISCHORD out on November 20th

  • Nooooooo ellos no son Depeche Mode y no creo lo q dice la informacion

  • QUE ES ESTO???? ALGUIEN AYUDEME

  • it is a good song but it does not by any means be compared with dm the song it to simple no layers the guy has the voice a bit like dave but the main reason that i knew i was not dm was the quality as i said before no layers no good fx pannings and it was no mistake the whole in chains thing they simply took advantage and knwe everybody wanted to hear the new dm album thats why i dislike them there are other means of showing your music other than jumping on the dm train btw check out p.words

  • They are NOT jumping on any DM train - check the date when this video was put on YouTube. More than a year before the release of DM new album.

Also, the song/video is almost 20 years old.

Check out the new material before judging.

There is another version on here where the person who put it on as "In Chains" has apologized for her mistake.

Some people should check their facts before posting!!

  • Excuse me Viggo. Where does it say that this is DM? If you look at the title..."Depeche Mode-esque". Meaning "a bit like DM".

The video was put up over 2 years ago and was made during the mid 90's so that makes it at least 15 years old. Same age as your mental age?

Let's hear one of your tracks then?????

  • If someone had claimed this was a song from DMs latest "back to the roots" album, I would have believed him. I would even have thought that this must be one of the better tracks from that album.

  • gran cancion, al principio yo la descarge como In chains, y de verdad pense q era, igual me sonaba un poco extraña por que sonaba muy dm clasico para ser del 2009

  • I enjoy this for the period sound, yes.

That said, tracks such as GHOST off SOTU (bonus track) show that depeche can still make the older sounds if they choose to. They have just moved on.

    Analog Angel deserve every success.

  • haha.. at 0:31 looks like to much like Alan and his way to smile. Or even dave.

    Btw i love the song!!

  • There already is a depeche mode.Try being more original.

Wheres the guy who is meant to look like Martin Gore?

  • Jesus, whats your problem, Im truly one of the biggest Depeche fans and I admire that this band have songs of this caliber, this song is up to par to Depeche Mode.

Dont be a fan boy and recognize quality regarding who creates it

  • I think Analog Angel is original. They don't sound like DM these days. Have you heard Shadows or High Heels...?? Yes, John sings in baritone and he has an amazing British accent. Yes, their songs are dark but they don't try to be DM. They have their own style of music which I think differ from DM...

Check their other songs, they are really good..

Their debut album is coming soon.

  • amazing songs.....

give us the album ! !

    it sounds like depeche !

  • Analog Angel album is coming soon my friend. I think that album will be a big surprise to all people who are into this kind of music!!!!

  • Give this track to Dave Gahan for his next solo album,,,it deseverve a oproductin

  • Yeah!

    Bloody well done!

Could you be more specific about the year when this was made? It sounds more like late, late eighties than early nineties to me....

  • John sounds like D. Gahan according to mute? Duh....

I dont think its a bad thing. I actually think that John has a better voice than Dave. Just my opinion.

Check out Analog Angel at Pivo Pivo on May 19th in Glasgow!!!

  • Analog Angel are playing live in Glasgow on 19th May.

Full details on the band website and on MySpace.

  • Astia au incercat sa fie Depeche Mode. Evident, nu au reusit, da au fost la inaltime!

  • In fact all the mp3 tracks available at the analog angels (the current reformed name) are rather good.

Why do I do is a wonderful piece of synth pop. Just wonderful.

And it is rather depeche.. Well, when I say rather. It's exactly the same. Not that that's such a bad thing.

  • hey, where can i get more of their mp3's? :)

  • On the Analog Angel band website or on MySpace

  • amazing tracks! thank you thank you thank you!

*dancing to the music with tears in my eyes*

  • I cant download "consecuences of yesterday" son from your website, when I click on download, the link redirect me to another web site and start playing but dont give the option to download it, can you please send it to my email?

    Thanks!

  • The Depeche Mode comparison is a valid one but remember Analogue Angel sound like the DM of yesterday (which is what i miss about DM). If you listen to DM's newer tracks and then their older tracks which do you prefer?

Personally i miss the old DM and i am sure that Analogue Angel will fill the gap that DM left behind. Hope that makes sense.

  • same here... Analog Angel brings nostalgia with their catchy and dark songs. It's something that a lot of people are looking for in music there days. Hope some you guys who live in Glasgow area will see them live at PIVO PIVO or The Box.

  • I saw them last night and they were very good.

Check out the Analog Angel website and listen to "High Heels", "Consequences of Yesterday" and of course "Why Do You Do". I was very impressed by them.

I also want to say that Analog Angel AREN'T trying to be DM. They just like dark electronic music so they will have people put a DM label on them. If you want DM cover band then go check out a DM cover band. Then come back and listen to Analog Angel when you have had your fill.

  • Satyanass:

Too bad I couldn't make it on Sunday ;) I live in the states.

I talked with John yesterday, he said that the gig went very well even though he had a cold. I hope Pivo Pivo gig will happen.

oh yeah I heard all those songs many times... lol

Michael R (graphic artist for AA)

  • This is not depeche, but it is rather good...

  • They (we) were called Dr Strangelove.

We now operate under the name of

    Analog Angel.

    Check us out on MySpace

  • ahahah xD pwned

  • Bastard! You got us all saying this song was DM's "In Chains"! Still a good song :°) Now i'm waiting for the real one.

  • Yeah!!

    Die Achziger!

    Gut gelungen

  • Comment removed

  • His Voice is pretty similiar to Dave Gahan´s earlier voice in some parts of the song!

  • Around Glasgow, Scotland (1992)

  • DM 'light'..?

  • b-side sotu ?

    i dont think so.. :)

  • dr strangelove beat up depeche mode and is trying to take ove rthe world again? no, this is song is cool!

  • cool!

  • hmmm...i like this..

  • 10,000 views and counting!!

  • No..nothing like Mode

    " aHEM!"

  • Love this...are you playing any gigs these days? love to come and see you

  • Hey, hopefully some gigs soon!! New material will be on our new website next week - we are excited by it!

I will put full details on here next week.

    JB

  • Hi John! Greetings from Poland :-)

These four tracks which are available on Analog Angel website are just great, me and many of my friends like it more and more :-)

You (or somebody else) should place them also here in youtube for promotional purposes :-)

Awaiting the complete album... and live in Poland? :-))))

  • just perfect strangers

  • May I PLEASE have the mp3 of this?

  • I was great john, I'll be greedy enough to ask for mp3 from the band

  • Thank You Elia - I have sent an MP3 to you via Home. Enjoy!!

  • Rather poor. DM - FOREVER

  • Great! could i have an mp3 of that track please?

  • I saw these guys live and they were the business.

  • Cheers Delmac.

Considering making another go of it!!

  • I saw these guys live and they were the business.

  • I wan't this song!!

Can you send me this song??

  • Mp3 received with thanks. Have to agree with previous comment - this video doesn't do the track justice. The song is SUPERB!! Vocals are first class!

Can I be greedy and ask for any other stuff you have (including your solo stuff)?

  • At the time of recording this track the band were called Dr. Strangelove. They became Machina a short time later.

The voice of the singer is mine and name is John not Dave :-)

I also know of Depeche - the greatest band EVER!!!

  • What is the name of the band ??

    Dr.Strangelove or Machina????

The voice of the singer is voice of Dave or what???

    I only know about Depeche!

  • Wonderful and lovely song. Can you send me an mp3 of it?

  • Forgot to say - I was recommended this on the DM site HOME. It is getting (mostly) good comments on their forum. Any DM fans watching this; get yourself onto HOME - the best DM forum around!

Signed onto You Tube for first time to see it!

  • Superb!! JBpollok - were you the singer in another band from Glasgow in the late eighties? I think it was called The Quiet Time. Another electronic band but not as much like DM. If so, I saw you live in Glasgow and you were tremendous - should have made it to bigger things!

The sounds on this track are good and the vocals are tremendous!

I also raise my hand for an MP3 please.

And get back to playing live!!

  • GraniteCity. I was in a band called The Quiet Room so I guess that is the same one. Thanks for the comments. For your info - I have got back together with one of the guys from TQR and we are putting some stuff together. The other ex-member actually stays in Aberdeen (your way?) now.

If you PM me I will get MP3 to you.

JB - I will also nod to HOME forum

  • I also would like to say thank you very much to JBpollock who sent me MP3 of Dr Strangelove ( named as Machina here )and his own songs as well. I recommend JB's demo to everyone who likes EBM/industrial/electro music. Perhaps, someone will persuade JB into publication these tracks on myspace? It shouldn't be hidden on his hard drive, don't you think??

    Take care JB!! :)

  • No worries Modeman. Glad you enjoyed my own stuff too. Deliberatley stayed away from any DM connections in the sound.

Thanks to those that asked for copies - I hope I got you all.

And- NO - there is no chance of getting back together.

    Keep safe - JB

  • MP3 received from JBpollok. Awesome sounding track - this video does not really do it justice!! I recommend anyone who likes the track request an MP3.

JBpollok also sent me some other tracks that he recorded himself. Nothing like DM - more industrial/EBM sounding but VERY impressive!!

JBpollok - I say again, get back with Machina or record more of your own stuff!!!!

  • recommended this by someone on the DM board. What a good shout it was - this is SUPERB!!

Would love the chance to see this band live - pity they have split up!! I get the feeling they would have been excellent. Anyone on here that knows them - get to work!

Next time Dave Gahan is sick - get this guy to fill in for him :-)

Any Mp3 files on the go?

  • I'm looking for some mp-3 of this band.. can someone help me, please?? I would apreciate it..

  • woah this is awesome! It really does capture the vibe of depeche mode from the black celebration era. I also raise my hand in request for an mp3, very catchy song and yeah even the video looks like Anton did it haha.

  • so much for originality

  • What band IS completely original? Even the mighty DM have ripped off a few of their influences. This only one song from this band - God only knows what they would have gone onto sound like.

Let's hear an effort from you!!

  • mp3?

  • Good song! It echoes the dark and mysterious DM of old.

    yeah...

  • Good song! It echoes the dark and mysterious DM of old.

BTW, who's the Alan look-a-like? For just a second, I thought it really was him!

  • Hey, I was that singer!!!! Hello to Robert, Paul, John Sim - how the hell are you??

Had no idea this was on here - looking at DM stuff and came across this - weird!

My missus is pi**ing herself laughing at my hair in that vid.

  • Wow, thanks for giving us such a great song!

  • Hi there

are you still involved in music?

  • We have reformed under another name. Our website will be up and running next week. We have reworked this and written some new stuff - all will appear on the website next week.

  • R u from this band?

THIS SONG IS AWESOME!! I LOVE THE LYRICS!

  • Hey John, remember me? I made the dodgy video all those years ago..... I guess if I hadn't, it wouldn't be on here! Bloody amazed at the huge amount of response on this. Hope you're doing ok.

    Gus.

  • Depeche Mode-esque indeed! Dave cloned 4 times :)Nice song!

  • Holy crap? Is this what Alan did after he left DM?

He said, "Fuck the 90's!, im goind back to the 80's" LOL!

  • Alan? Where is he? Or do you mean Brookmyre?

  • Pretty good actually. Captured the darkness of DM nicely. They should've released an album called Black Reward Time Again for the Broken Masses!

  • This is great! Who were the band members?

  • fucking righteous grooves here...

  • This song is a good work, an excellent idea, no doubts. I like melodies and sounds and that's the important thing.

  • Video was shot around various locations in Glasgow. It was shot in the mid 90's i think.

  • this is creepy :)

  • Haunting isn't it.

  • this is excellent, sounds like a lost song from the violator era !

  • Suppose you could do better.

  • i dont like fake stuff

  • Pretty damn good, right?

I like the choice of synth textures. great song but a bit too long.

If you liked Machina, Check out Call Box Abandoned on Youtube.

  • I liked this band, when they were called Depeche Mode.

  • it's almost impossible for this to be more like depeche mode.

  • I know. When i first heard it my first question to Robert (the guy in the leather jacket) was how did they manage to get Dave Gahan to sing on it? They sound soooo similar.

  • yeah, he stole Dave's voice and the other guy stole half of Alan's face!! creepy I say :))

  • beyond amazing.

  • Hi, I'm a member of the band Machina. Thank you for your comments. I'm happy to see that there are still people out there that liked the sound we produced. New material is on its way! Someone going under the name Kwerkmode is distributing tracks from our demo -- THEY DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION! If there are people out there interested in band information or the old demo please contact me direct. Thanks Machina

  • will you post new vids too? :)

  • Working on new videos to go with some of the tracks from the demo I will post them when completed.

  • thanks :) i will be waiting :)

  • please keep me posted regarding the release of future material

    very impressed with this song

  • Nice song, sweet and dark. These guys look a lot similiar to depeche. In one of shots there seems to appear Alan Wilder ;). I really like them, sad to hear there is no released material. I want the demos, could you send me a link??

  • amazing track.

  • Very great song, If it had been released as a single, I had surely bought it. Keyboard parts are very melancholic and sad with a hint of hope from times to times, exelent !!! Nice flat top too.

  • Hello

I have the original demos on cd. let me know if you want them sent to you in France.

    John

  • any chance of getting the mp3s of this band?

  • if depeche mode did this same song it would be great lol... they should put it on the next album

  • Not bad.

Even though the DM influence is quite strong, I would have loved to hear what Machina would have developed into after a few albums.

Followers of Camouflage probably know what I mean. The last two albums by Camouflage were SPECTACULAR. The guys finally absorbed the DM influences and became something all together their own.

Who knows, it might have happened to Machina as well.

Satyanass, anything else on that demo you can post?

  • Sorry nothing more to add about the demo.

All that i know has already been said.

I still keep in touch with Robert (the keyboard player). According to him, they all went their separate ways shortly after the demo. Robert still dabbles with songwriting and making music but just as a hobby.

I really think that the band would have got somewhere. When i first heard the song i was blown away. I actually thought that they had persuaded Dave Gahan to sing for them.

  • haunting

  • WOW, I was informed of this by one of the band members, John Simm, who I now have the pleasure of working with, Simply Fantistic ! Satyanass, Can you possibly get those MP3's to me somehow ? Ive had a taster, and now want MORE !!!

  • O.M.G. I shot and edited this all those years ago! A bit primitive looking now, but I only had very basic equipment at the time. Maybe I should look it out and tidy it up a bit?

  • better than mode. quite simply superb. does not sound dated. song writing at its very best.

  • It's an amalgam of Depeche Mode and Camouflage without the catchy tunes.

  • It's like Dave's afterbirth...cool.

  • music is ok, but these guys need desperately a personality of their own.

  • amazing !

  • I hope that you will find a good quality mp3 of this :)

  • I have two mp3's by this band but i dont know how to go about posting them.

  • ooo ...GOOD !!

  • I loved this demo when I first heard it and I dont give monkeys ass if the singer sounds like Dave Gahn or not as the tunes great!

Let's here more, more more more I say!

This puts Devision, Mesh and Camouflage in the shade!

    PS This section..

"They also enjoyed some success as The Time Frequency (TTF)" That part was wrong.

  • Well said JonCantSpell. I think it is great. It sounds like early DM to me. I get all nostalgic when i hear this one.
