Nice landing, crappy song!My son is just going to Montreal to fly Saab340's with Provincial Airlines.I am looking forward to being a passenger on his plane!
Agree with everybody. Was looking forward to the noise of the props being reversed, and not only do we miss out on that noise, the music is absolutely horrible! Please repost with original sound!
@gacwalker You do realize the reason people complain is that they don't want music at all, no matter the kind. Pure sound form the plane itself is more interesting. :P
@RaXha agreed that the pure sound is better......but the music selected got ripped on for some reason. I'm a pilot and I love metal so this video was perfect for me ;P
@Njugglesvatn Ground steering in this airplane is made using rudder pedals. This airplane has both wheel brakes and reverse thrust capabilities, and both can be used to slow the airplane down. Flaps are normally set before landing to assist in slowing the airplane down to an appropriate speed for landing. Either the Captain or First Officer can be at the controls during landing. Here in this video it is the First Officer making the landing.
@AaronBarthol Thankyou!, this is the kind of information I love to hear about.
I've noticed that when we are about 5-10 mins from landing there is a sudden slow down in the speed as if the crew are easing back on the throttle(s) and I guess this is preparing the landing speed.
@Njugglesvatn Whoops! Looks like I provided some misleading information in my response to your questions. Although ground steering in most smaller General Aviation aircraft is made using rudder pedals, ground steering in this aircraft (Saab 340) and most larger transport category aircraft is made using a small steering wheel controlled only by the Captain in the left seat. Probably more detail than you really wanted to know but I didn't want to leave any loose strands out there. :)
hey i feel werid askin this but i am tryin to learn how to fly this plane in fs 2004 i have the ffs saab 340 and its close to real but i have a problem with the vor i dont know how to use it really good i flew with it before but not really getting the giff of it so i was wondering if you cud help me out with a video explaning it if you can or no please let me know
I AM A MUSICIAN, AND I AM VERY HAPY ABOUT YOUTUBES AUDIO RIGHTS....... WOULD YOU LIKE THAT SOMEONE USE YOUR VIDEO WITHOUT YOUR PERIMISION??? NO.... MUSICIANS DO NOT WANT IT TOO...... BECAUSE THEY MAKE MONEY OUT OF MUSIC...... THEY EAT OUT OF MUSIC... ;)
Btthus, small planes like cessna 172s use only the rudder pedals to turn the nosewheel. but for primary low-speed direction control via the nosewheel, airline type planes, including the saab 340 (far as i know), use a tilller -- a hand control located on the captain's left side wall. they may be on both sides, but far as i recall from my aviation geek days, captain always taxis. you see them switch off here after the first officer lands.
Just went on one of those! I had to wait for a wheel chair to pick up my dad, so the Co-pilot showed me the cockpit. She said that it was harder to fly that aircraft, it was more demanding since it didn't have a sophisticated auto-pilot like a big airbus or something like that. I personally thought it was easier but when I saw the the Panel I would agree. Would you say it is harder, or easier?
Nice video and good work, in the future you might want to ask your Captain to make sure his shoulder harness is on, in my part of the world its a legal requirement!!
@kanass69 technically he could make a counter claim saying that it was interfering with his access to the controls... which means he could get away with it.

@flyboy242 Your going to love the Saab 340. It is one of the most complex aircraft that I have learned how to fly and one of the most fun. Alot of different systems on this bird.
@flyboy242 I used to fly the Saab 340 for Florida Coastal Airlines. But I now fly a Caravan 208 for a corporate company out of South Florida. I am really enjoying the change of scenery with the new job.
@krebble69 I know what you mean, WMG muted the original sound and I had to pick something off there approved list which totally changed how the video comes across to the viewers.
Nice to see a decent quality video, well done. I must agree that the music would be left to the people who have that particular taste.
Why not have the aircraft mechanics make a removable bracket for the undercariage ? I think you could use a cheap multiplexer to show picture in picture ie; the landing from the pilots view main screen and the landing gear on the bottom right of the picture.
I just got my GoPro and used it in my car. I made a trippy little vid just for kicks and added FC effects. This here is a grea peek into how CRM works in the cockpit. Thanks for sharing.
@Av8trxx I agree...WMG took off my original song so I had to pick something off there "Approved List"...not a fan of WMG, my next video will be the natural sounds of the cockpit.

too scary dude ... is that what goes on in a cockpit every time you land? That steering wheel thingy mebob is shaking all over the place. I am not flying again :) You looked relieved once that plane was down ? Anyway, watched the video to get a feel for the GoPro HD, happy with it ?
@andreels It's called a control yoke. When you're landing you have to make constant little corrections to the aircraft for wind, changes in configuration such as flaps, gear, etc. Get everything just right and the passengers don't even know you're on the ground.
I have actually been thinking about it! LoL Thought it would be a cool view to put it on the bottom/rear of the aircraft to see the landing gear touch down upon landing.
@NSRBFLO Wouldn't you need to clear that with the FSDO first? I've heard of research planes adding external gyro-cams and they had to get FSDO approval. I know that the GoPro has a tiny footprint though..
Wow. As far as quality of the video and positioning of the camera goes, this has to be the best I've seen on YT. But I'd rather hear cockpit noise and radio conversations instead of music.
Dont worry my next video is going to be with an all natural sound environment...just waiting for a day of crazy bad weather to land in to make the video more fun!
Glad you enjoyed the video! No thanks to WMG removing my original song!.. I had to re-add a song that was allowed so the new song is "Drowning Pool - Reminded of you"
@RanHam335 You use your feet to steer the plane on the ground with the rudder pedals. Those pedals also turn the front wheel on the plane for ground steering.
Pretty cool. Was this with the spot metering feature on? The windshield is a bit overexposed, which is uncommon for the GoPro HD. Maybe it's metering off the center pillar? Positioning it off-center in the cockpit with the center meter feature might give better lighting.
This was taken with the Center meter on. I just changed the setting to Spot Meter for my next flight to see how it comes out. Thanks for the advise Mike.

Could someone answer me a couple of quick questions?.
How does the airoplane steer when they are taxiing?.
Does the airoplane have wheel brakes or is it slowed just by reverse thrust?.
When landing/touching down is it the captain who is controlling the decent or are the flaps set too?.
Thanks and great video.
