@Threxx As with any rocky peak, there's always danger of touching something that gives way into a rock fall, but as far as something this exposed, no, there's no other point where you feel impending doom.
There's some ledges on the left side that give you a place to put your feet most of the time, which is what I did, but most people scoot across, straddling the edge, so your weight is not really towards one side. It would be hard to fall if you scooted across but I suggest you wear pants. ;)
Are there any other dangerous (instant death if you mess up) areas on the way to the summit of Capitol peak?
Would you say that the knife edge gives you the opportunity to keep your weight biased toward the less steep side of the mountain and allows you to keep your hands on something grip-worthy?
Lastly am I correct in guessing if you fell over to the right side you're basically dead, and from the left side you'd have a decent chance of stopping yourself?
You are EXTREMELY brave. I, uh...I'm scared of heights and I've never climbed Katahdin in my 30 years of life so far. Seeing this video, I know WHY I'm afraid to climb it...because of this part, the Knife Edge. Why must Katahdin have this very dangerous part? Can't it be a normal mountain with plenty of space and room for error that won't cost a life? Again, you're extremely brave. I give you props for this one.
Where's Capitol Peak? I've never heard of it. I just assumed it was Katahdin because of the words "Knife Edge". I didn't know other mountains had a "knife edge" on them.
lol funny. we walked across it...

A few questions if you don't mind...

@Threxx if you fell on any side you'd die, but it's not hard at all. takes a little ballance to walk it, but if you scoot it's easy.

This isn't Katahdin. It's Capitol Peak, hence the title. Katahdin's Knife Edge is more roomy and less scary. I bet you could do it.

Capitol Peak is in Colorado. I've never done it myself, but it's one of the Colorado "fourteeners".

FYI-It is not called the "Knife Ridge" it is the "knife edge".

Knife-edge Ridge. I'm sure she knows. FYI.

Yes - camera on the helmet, and I was shuffling my feet with my hands on the ridge. You're right - no wind to speak of really. :)

Nice video! Did you have the camera strapped to your helmet? Also, you took this pretty quickly, were you walking across the Knife Edge???
At least it looks like very little wind! :-)
