  • @perfectpickleman is correct. Good comment, but this rendition is nowhere near the beauty and love that is felt when Wayne sings it. I believe when Wayne sings it his entire body wells up inside with nothing but love..

  • . . . sounds like chris cornell

  • Ew?

C'mon, Beck. I know you can do better than that.

  • Which song goes between Lost Cause and Do you realize?... the one that he cut!

  • This sucks.

  • @elfspice1337 Seriously? OK. What rock songs do you prefer over this. I'm not kidding. I want to know where you're coming from.

  • don't be haters. it's true the flaming lips and beck have had a tumultuous relationship, but everything has been reconciled. watch this video and realize that beck is paying tribute to one of the greatest songs ever made.

  • @RobizziJames

one of the greatest songs ever ???

you must have a limited catalog

  • @meatazzsandwich the lyrics are perfect, tell me what you think is one of the greatest songs ever

  • @RobizziJames

definitely one of the greatest songs ever

  • wut. beck. doing. the. flaming. lips. shouldnt. happen.

i mean cmon, he cant even do it, and the flips opened for HIM on a tour once.

  • Guys, this was just 50 seconds amongst an hour or so of music. If you look on the web, he has a better rendition of this song then even the flaming lips. Check it out. Then go eat my penis. It's in the microwave.

  • hahahahhahhahahahahaahhahahaahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa god your penis was delish.

  • @beaverB0B well played good sir

  • @perfectpickleman this would have been a good comment if you didnt say it was "better than the flaming lips" yeah fucking right, super soulful song and the words only sound right coming from waynes mouth. i love beck but its not "better"

  • This less than a minute clip is all I need to hear to judge Beck on the many, many albums he has produced, not to mention the influence he has had on music since the early 1990's. It's obvious from the comments that people agree that a :50 clip from one of hundreds of shows is all that's needed to judge the remainder of his discography.

  • this is messed man. not right. beck should not sing that again, ever

  • tight little version. got the point across in less than a minute using the departure from melody and serious compression. haters gonna hate. lovers love. REALIZE!

  • wtf, he ruined the song, wtf

  • well, i think that this is the worst version of beck. i saw him in buenos aires when a i was 12, the midnite vultures era. AWESOME, totally different from this gig. I believe that, like everyone does, he became a little bit nut, but in a antisocial way.

I believed that Beck dont have a perfect live show but his albums are perfect. i wish to see this beck singing Sea Change completly in a intimate atmosphere.

i love you beck, you are my hero!

  • Jesus Christ! I love Beck but I'm finding it hard to defend him here, that wasnt very good at all

  • Agreed.

  • you can say that again!

  • Boy that sucks! His pretty singing is atrocious, and emotionally totally disconnected from the song and the FlamingLips and pretty much from the world actually. Yuck!

  • Epic view

  • I wonder if this is why Wayne Coyne thinks Beck is a douche.

  • dude beck and the flmaing lips are pretty close knit, im pretty sure beck used them as his backing band for a tour or so

  • he looks like david spade here

  • I saw this tour. The Flaming Lips were opening for Beck. Beck stunk badly.

  • Finally someone sung this song on key. Too bad the singer that wrote the song can't sing it for shit.

  • oh wow beck covering this is lovely :)

  • The Flaming Lips are probably my favorite band out right now besides Radiohead... but Beck sings better than Wayne. =D

  • hell no.

  • i disagree!

  • hey cool, those are my favorite bands too, aprt from tom waits and frank black.

  • but the whole point of wayne coynes voice is that its not perfect. i wouldnt listen to them as much if he had everything pitch perfect.

SO LA! hehehehe <3 flaming lips.

  • good comment! After your post, this video got a few haters on his singing.

I'd say Beck does a great job here, with a tasteful choice of notes in departing from the 'original'. And his 'off-keyness' is him adding TFL flavor! also, when it's less apparent, it may be just warping by the digital camera.

  • i love beck

  • i love this video and this song and recently directed a video of another cover of the song by Gretchen Lieberum which I just posted here on YouTube...hope you will check it out...

  • Wonderful! Good work Beck! -And Puppet Beck Backup Dancer! Good Taste. Nice Style. Boogie On Wooden Waxwork! Waste and Whittle did Gimble and Gyre in the Wabe.

  • I really love this song and I love Beck and his voice... I heard him playing it in a show last year and I almost cried... thank you so so so much!
