is it a weller soldering iron ?? :) im gonna make my house solar or at least my garage since is the part of the house that consumes more electricity :)
When I solder my tab wire to the Neg. of the p.v. cell it comes off. How i do it: Flux the contacts, put a little bit of soder on the tab wire, Soder it to the p.v. cell. Jesssss I just can't seem to make it attach, HELP> W/ suggestions?
@Felipecabesas plenty videos out there with alots of great advise, try to read and listen to all their instructions. Most important 1- use right tool. 2- keep it clean 3- right materials , 4- learn how to use your tools , last and not less important 5- right temperture. hope this help you in anyways.
Everyone's talking about the solar deal that's going on @ Solar-Deals(.)com. 3 x 6 Evergreen Solar Cells for $0.70 per watt. Starting at $149.99! It's better then on ebay and cheaper!
The special deal is limited and only 30 days left! Just thought, I'd let you know.
It's on a spool roll on the right side of this video. He touches it with the very hot soldering iron and the solder melts on the tip. I prefer to brace everything and just control the solder feed and the iron. This is very easy, I've was a Bench Tech for many years.
Hey, check out my website at ScientificallyGreener(Dot) com and get all the new and improved Equipments to build or buy your own solar and wind energy systems ScientificallyGreener(Dot) com is a website that sells the most modern environmental products available
Restoring industrial hemp to its rightful place in agriculture today will return much control to our farmers, and away from the multinational corporations that dominate our political process and destroy our environment. These capital-intensive, non-sustainable industries have usurped our economic resources and clear-cut huge tracts of the world's forests, given us massive oil spills, wars, toxic waste, massive worldwide pollution, global warming and the destruction of entire ecosystems.
Hi there, I believe that the video and the explanations are OK, what actually worries me is the heat produced by the soldering iron which may destroy the cells. Usually is reccomended to
help oneself with slowing down the temperature immediately after this soldering job.
Nano Solar is a place to purchase the tiles? Their web site is pretty much saying they have none for sale. Is there another resource? i really want to buy some and build a few panels.
Try feeding the solder onto the iron whilst you are soldering, that way you can keep it flowing and not waste so much time, perhaps the heat will damage the cells but it will be a better technique for tinning the wires.
OMG what are you doing there? The (maybe) only speciality of these tabbing wires are their being already-solder carrying. So, u removed the solder from them in the previous video and now you are again soldering them :)
Actually I think that you couldn't solder the tabbing wires on the panels, so you tried this way. However, I know your soldering iron which is very very cheap and never let you work on suc a solar cell. Try using a better one, so you will never waste your time.
i work on a machine that connects cca 15 000 cells in 8 hrs.lol.well machine costs a couple of million dolars.this cells r so fragile so imagine how delicate the machine must be...look it up.komax 3300 or 3400.
@H0D0NKAIN I would not recommend making the cells lol, but you can buy them in lots of 36, 50, 100, and all the way up to 1000 on ebay. Try a kit to start, it will come with cells, tabbing wire and bus wire, a flux pen, and a blocking diode. A cool project to get into solar.

No Tommy , I don't think so. AFAIK this is still under Development.
Considering the financial Crisis, it also might be that some Big Lobby Group will just sandbox this for various reasons.
Let's see. I'd really love to see this coming soon.

What are the "cells" made from? And how do I make them?
H0D0NKAIN 3 years ago 9
The Cells are made from Silicon ( Main Content of common Sand )
You can not make them by yourself.
Check out the next Gen cells from Nano Solar Inc. ( in Palo Alto )
Made from : Copper (Cu) indium (In) Gallium (Ga) Sulphur (S) Selenium at about 1/10th of the Cost of the previous Generation.
If this gets off the Ground, every single Residential Unit in the US and Europe can go Solar.

ok...soldering is the easy part...
how do I connect these cells in series ?
I've been looking at instructions, but the instructions are for cells with only one ribbon....my cells have two ribbons like yours do.
