Professional mechanic here. The ticking noise from the right side bank is a burned exhaust valve. Time for a set of fresh heads, and an opportunity to upgrade to 2.02" valves. Always nice to hear an unrestricted exhaust though.

@3G4life1990 Good luck! Cost of repairs might be prohibitive and you could get a really good one for what you'd spend. Gets some parts catalogs to give you an idea of the costs involved then multiply that by 10 when you find other things that need attention. It's parked for a reason.

I have a 1980 L82 currently w/ straight pipes and glasspacks out the back. Im planning on doing a 383 stroker w/ hooker super comp. side headers and pipes. I was just curious, do you have any sort of muffler in the side pipes, or just straight? Judging by the sound Im guessing no mufflers.

Depends on state laws for street use, Federal law states you have to have one however in most states there are emission exemption laws for chassies above a certain age. This exempts you from testing thus the lack of a catalytic converter by state law is not a concern. Running without a muffler however can get you pulled over and ticked in a heart beat, and impounded after multiple offenses. These laws do not apply to track use.
