How Not to Land a 50 pound Alaska Halibut fishing from a small boat

Besides the halibut itself possibly causing havoc, someone needed to get ahold of that weight swinging around. Don't know exactly, but the weights I used for Alaska halibut fishing were in the 2 to 5# range. Something that size can inflict a hurt real quick.

LOL I LOVE THE BAT. reminds me when had to punch a salmon in the head once because i wasn't actually planning on getting anything. Turns out i did..and in the process scared off some german tourists..then the old man at the end of the dock came running with a 2x4 piece of doorstop. hahaha

Use the bat on the fish while its hanging off the side of the boat -- lucky we didn't break a pole or have the gaff shoved into my leg.
