  • i have a problem .

after i replaced the screen i turned it on but the screen just goes white for a few second and does not boot

  • I don't have an iPhone but stumbled on this video... He's CUTE!

  • @what2upload they do did you find them

  • Note not to cover up the ambient light / proximity and accelerometer sensors when putting adhesive on the frame or the screen wont switch off when held to face during a call.

  • hey man i was wondering if the digitizer aka the screen will work without the frame bezel thing cause i tried it and it wasnt working and the ribbion cable was on right it jus wasnt working cause im glueing it on to the frame tomarow and i dont want to if its not gonna work

  • YOUR info by far is the best in youtube !! real clear and complete!! thanks man!! I fixed mine thanks 2U !!

  • DIY

  • cool did not know about the glue part

of the Screen Digitizer with Glass Panel

    thanks

  • I ordered the screen to my iphone... replaced it... and my screen didnt turn on =[ i was able to receive calls but the screen was off... check the wiring connections and still no good =[ called apple told 'em that my iphone screen had turned off and it wasnt showing anything... so they sent a box...i sent it back.... and I received a refurbished one!

    not bad for $30 lol

  • NICE!! many peaple dont know: u just loose your warranty if u distroy the "Don not remove" lable on the motherboard^^

  • idk when I opened the phone I didnt see that but at least they still replaced it!

  • did u still have ur warrentee?

  • yea i did but not any more

  • ok, the weird thing is, i took my iphone 3GS 32GB into a apple store, was told they could swap my iphone for a new iphone for $229+tax (i was told this by a few people who work there) so i made an appointment because the store was packed and came back 4 hours later my appointment with the genius bar and they made the swap with a brand new 3GS 32GB for 0$

has i am walking out of the store, my friend told me that i never paid for it lol, im thinking did they screw up, but the bill says 0 owing

  • na got the same but i broke the new phone

  • ill buy your broken one how much u want

  • Just first take it to the apple store in your area , and they might fix it for free, depending on how long you have had it. But if the price is out of wack then you can fix your self. Thats what im doing..

  • found a repair place in toronto for $140 and done within an hour :)

  • Looks like he's replacing the glass and the digitizer at the same time. Are there any videos out there of just replacing the glass?

  • The digitizer on the old one can't even be removed. Honestly, don't buy just the glass it's a waste of time. Get the digitizer + glass you'll save yourself time and money.

  • does anyone know if theres a company or if apple repairs the glass? i would reather let them do it :( lol

i just bought the 3gs 3 days ago and already damaged :( sucks

  • Prepare to spend about $200 to fix it through apple

  • you can also buy the part off ebay WITH adhesive that fits the iphone.. I've broken mine twice now.. Future heads up.. :)

  • Are you saying i can just heat the front of my iphone and take the glass straight off with out having to pry the phone open?

  • No you will need to take it a part, reference the PDAparts video.

  • Lee... thanks for the good advise to heat the glass. I used the technique on my shattered glass and after about ten minutes with the hairdryer I could pry the glass shards without damaging the frame. The whole operation only took an hour.

PS. Be very(!) careful when separating the LCD from the glass frame. My LCD stopped working and I had to replace it as well. Now my phone is as good as new again.

  • The bracket referred to in the video is the digitizer right? I broke my iphone, and I think the digitizer beneath the glass is damaged as well, because after a while, the phone stopped responding to touch (for a while it still was functional).

does that mean I should just buy the glass plate with a digitizer included, and not bother removing it?

  • buying the glass for the 3G will include the digitizer. meaning the glass and digitizer is one piece. the bracket is a separate piece you will need to remove and place on the new glass/digitizer.

  • oh ok, so basically it's what holds the glass in place?

  • yes

  • Actually, you aren't helping to clarify much. You see, they sell the glass + digitizer and they sell just the glass, so it is not always included. From what I hear, it is very difficult to do on a 3G phone and you should just buy the glass + bracket.

  • good advise, thanks. i shall be attempting the operation tomorrow. wish me luck

  • me too dude good luck

  • this video was made for the retarded people that couldnt do it plain and simple. lol i got mine to work simply fine

  • how do i take the screen out of the lcd?

  • can i just heat the glue from the glass without taking the LCD out of the phone and take out the glass with a suction cup? is it possible?

  • I would not do that. You risk damaging the LCD. Disassemble the phone first then take off the glass.

  • Can I use this method and never take the phone a part? Will the glass just come off if suctioned and heated? That would be just awesome if so!

  • I've apparently found this video a bit too late. I've already removed the plastic bracket thing by prying it out, doing a number on it in the process. Any tips on getting a slightly-mangled bracket back in, or is there somewhere that you can purchase replacement plastic brackets?

Thanks for your video and time.

  • Mystremyk, it took me about 2 hours as well. I posted a video of the process under my profile. Your suggestion on using a suction cup is great advice. I didn't see that advice until after the repair.

  • Great videos GetterScott, thanks. Much better than the PDAparts one that everyone mentions - which is misleading at best, and at worst just wrong: a great way to break your lcd (and the cynic in me expects no less from a company selling spare lcd's) Agree with you on the suction cup too!

  • Thanks for the advice. I used this advice to fix my 3G.

  • So what do you suggest for Iphone 2G owners ?

  • from what i've heard you can't just replace the glass on the 2G you need to buy the LCD with the glass and digitizer attached.

  • nope, this only works for the iphone 3G

  • does this method works also with the 2G iphone ?

  • I tried that at first... you end up bending the bracket out of shape. Was this true for you?

  • i just pulled it of lol

  • You're wrong. You're not even supposed to open it in the first place sure. But we do what we have to to get the job done. This method works, I just did a similar thing tonight.

  • yo my iphone's screen ISNT cracked but its messed up in side kinda like the software isnt displaying the right stuff its just all colorful. what EXACTLY is broke?!?!

  • This video just helps assist you in replacing the glass on the 3G. My iPhone was still in perfect working condition just the glass was cracked.

  • Your LCD screen is damaged. You need to order a new one, runs around $80

  • Will be attemptingt this method tomorrow... Will let you know how it goes..

    Thanks for the video pal.
