I just saw a TV ad for this DVD calling it 'Legendary/Ground Breaking'? Out of all the 70's shows to come out, The Six Million Dollar Man was definatley my Favorite. I cant tell you how much i loved the show, and Steve Austin. My favorite episde was Bigfoot. I just cant believe that it took all this time to come out, must have been legal issues. But now thw fans get to see these aweome episodes! Thanks! too all who made this possible!
@magnetomikey...the first of the 3 movies (The moon and the desert) was certainly better then much of the current stuff out there while the first "tv" episode (Population zero) was probably the best overall since it had absolutely no sound effects, used the slow motion to great effect and had this dazzling jazz piano playing over the theme during the episodes dramatic climax...almost immedietly after that episode the production was redirected towards young kids and in hindsight looks silly
Why is every other show ever available on DVD but Six Million Dollar man comes out once and only online and if you don't get it fast you're shit outta luck? That's wrong.
@zzzombie888 SO true dog! Pisses me off that many people that only casually liked the show, or just collect things, probably snatched up copies first simply because they were catching the info early by being more of an online-nerd. No doubt some customers were like us and new the show well. Hope there will be some shallow geeks that prefer crappy CG films and shows, like indecipherable transformer fights or vapid acting in smallville, and sell their 6MDM copies to make room.
THEY WANT $239 TO WATCH THE DVDS....IS LEE MAJORS OUT OF HIS MIND? HE MUST BE GETTING A HUGE CUT OF THE MONEY...THAT IS WHY IT HASN'T BEEN OUT FOR 35 YEARS...GREEDY BIONIC IDIOT
@videozfann If I understand correctly, the geniuses at NBC/Universal forgot to update the rights like they used to do regularly. It supposedly has been available overseas (along w/Bionic Woman) for at least six years. That lousy (and thankfully short-lived) Bionic Woman remake from a few years ago was no coincidence.
I remember one episode Lee Majors was fighting off a black armor tank looks like a cone type tank, and Lee was losing, and I was cheering too Lee any one remember that ??? I think the title was the tank from 6 Million dollar man,
Awesomeness! I don't know how much it's gonna cost but I will DEFINITELY be buying this dvd set soon, I don't care if I have to mortgage my damn house, this is a Must Have!
I HAVE ALL THE TOYS,GAMES,CURTAINS,BED SPREAD,COMIC BOOKS AND NOW I WILL HAVE THE DVD'S! THANK YOU TIME LIFE. WITH ALLLTHE TRASH OUT THERE.....ITS TIME FOR A CLASSIC TO RETURN. NOW HAS ANYONE SEEEN ELVIS?
The Six Mill box set is a work of art, and well worth the $250 dollar price tag. Time Life did a wonderful job, and it made a very happy Christmas for me and my family. I learned that it sold out three weeks before it was to be released, but fortunately I put in my order early and was one of the lucky ones that didn't have to wait until they restocked their inventory. I highly recommend it to everyone.
@lmx370 , I agree the 6 Mill box set was well worth the price when you bought it online...at first I didn't know you had to buy on line I went to the store to buy it and was disappointed when it wasn't there. and I all so bought the 1st season of the Bionic Women in OCT 2010 at Best Buys. I can't wait untill season 2 and 3 come out for BW.
@Astraldragon1 Right you are. I just learned that season two of Bionic Woman will be released in May. So only two months to wait. I don't know why Time Life didn't release Bionic Woman but let Universal have it instead. I hate waiting for show that get released one season at a time, I much prefer the whole series all at once.
yeah, the episode is called ' return of the robot maker' and its still one of my favourite one today. classic series and great to see lee majors again.
@ATVmidlands5581 I agree. Lee Majors was a legend and still is. My family loved the 6MDM and I grew up watching him in The Fall Guy although I can remember watching the pilot episode of the Bionic Man called Wine, Women & War when I was 6.
@Banner1979 In the late 60's-early 70's ABC produced "made for tv" movies. In late 72' they filmed one called "The moon and the desert" (aired 73'), this was just another made for tv movie however the story was better then most and very different from the SMDM tv series that was to come (instead of Oscar Goldman you had the much cooler Oliver Spencer plus none of the retarded slow motion and sound effects), after 2 more movies (Wine, women & war, Solid gold kidnapping) they started the series
The first TV episode (Population Zero) was the best -disgruntled former OSI scientist (Dr. Bacon) set on revenge for the OSI screwing him (gave years on a project that was scrapped) after Austin is sent in Bacon's henchmen knock him out, at first Bacon assumes Austins dead (can't find a pulse) but quickly finds he's the end result of the cyborg project planned years earlier -this is the one where Austin eventually kills Bacon and his guys by throwing a metal fence post into their large van
@MightySaturn5 I used to have The Moon And The Desert on video in 2000 and it was very well made, showing how this ordinary man became an extraordinary one. I found Oliver Spencer to be interesting, but also cold and calculating, no offence. Darren McGavin played him really well like a proper spook. Oscar was basically a more likeable version of Spencer. The slow motion sound effects were cool for their time, but the theme song in Wine Women & War was a little cheesy.
@Banner1979 I agree -Spencer was indeed cold & calculating but that was his appeal -next to the wishy washy Goldman character he was a huge bastard - at a goverment meeting he's asked how'd they get volunteers, he simply smiles and says "accidents happen all the time" follwed by "we'll start with scrap", even worse was testing Austins readiness by sending him on a suicide mission, when the doctor found out and confronted him he simply says "we can always build another one" -lol, what a cool sob
@MightySaturn5 He must have been the inspiration for OCP exec Bob Morton in RoboCop. Morton was assigned to that programme of building a crimefighting cyborg but unlike rival Dick Jones, he wanted to give his creation human qualities. When his pal asked him where they would start, he replied, "wait for some poor schmuck to volunteer," meaning that a police officer had to die. And that man was Alex Murphy. Once he was Robo, Morton called him a product and that he should be without feelings.
I so friggin want this. I ordered it for my girlfriend, and it's sitting on my table waiting to be delivered to her tomorrow morning. So near, and yet so far.
It was a cool show for sure. In a way it gave people with or in need of prosthesis a glimmer of hope reg living a normal life. The bionic eye was the bomb.
One of the features in the set is on Real Life Bionics. It is very interesting. It is in with the season one DVDs. Also check out the Bionic Woman season one. More extras on that set including commentary by Lindsay Wagner, Richard Anderson, Kenneth Johnson and even Robbie Rist (he was Cousin Oliver on the Brady Bunch and also played one of Jamie Sommer's students- his name was Andrew on The BW).
He (The $7,000,000 man wasn't necessarily evil. He just couldn't handle bionic strength and it made him mentally unstable. At least he had a happy ending after his bionic power was reduced to normal.
@CaptNemo100 it was easy for steve to tell witch one was the robot ..uses his bionic eye zooms in on the faces sees the real Oscar was sweating then sees the robot's face was dry he new with one was the robot since a robot wouldn't sweat in the hot sun so he ran and jumps up and drop kicks the robot Oscar on his ass ....love this show Glad its on DVD
@paranorma1palace lol me too, I met Lindsay Wagner a few years ago, and I froze when I saw her, told her I used to run in slow motion watching their shows and grab pieces of rubber and bend them making that Bionic sound effect, got her Autograph, i live in Southern California, so we get to see plenty of movie and TV stars...
