Great videos you have! I hunt beavers too, we have quite a big population of canadian beaver here in Finland. I gotta try cooking the tail sometime... love the meat but never tried the tail :)
I ain't trying to get into your business bro, just wonder if you've ever thought about gettin charlie one of those vests duck hunters use for their dogs for swimming in cold water?
curious ... CA law allows hunting of beaver? Taking beaver at this time of year ... good chance you could remove the nursing female. You want to assure continued supply of beaver, so how do you assure not taking breeding female? The one you got doesn't look all that big, so I'm guessing it was a 1 or 2 yr. old.
@ImainemanI nurseing females will not leave far from the house i was a long ways from the house and they arent nurseing at that time of year our seasons close well beffore they give there litter.
@flyfysher69 yeah man hes a natural cant wait for traditional springhunt my lab charlie needs the excercise hes been sitting in the cabin all winter hes actually gained a lot of weight will be happy for spring get him back in the water retrieving my beaver and birds.i taught him to retrieve my birds then i shot a beaver well he knew what he had to do.
@8256728 no i never shot that beaver i was just waiting for him to die of natural causes then i sent my lab out to retrieve him...kinda hard to record and shoot at the same time need both hands to fire my rifle maybe next time if i got someone with me to record ill do a kill shot.
i love this crap!!! keep it up! love the accent... eh? hahahahaha seriously, ive watched all your trapping and fishing vid's and love'em keep the coming..
@Scrap5000 lol yeah it was i was dragging that beaver up that bank and charlie was still tugging on it i guess he thought it was his.charlie is only a year and a half old i think that was his3rd or 4th beaver he retrieved for me.he sure is a good sidekick
@TheWildNorth You did the right thing; dogs are pack animals and you need to always be the leader of that pack, or they will not respect you and try to be the leader themselves. Doesn't make them bad; it's just the way they are. Your Charlie seems like a dream companion, really good boy & amazing for his age...
how do you cook your beaver tail?i have tryed roasting them on a fire but they never really turn out and alway taste like crap. nice vid and keep doing what your doing
@TheWildNorth thanks for the tip i will try that with my next beaver tail. that will be a few month though because my season down here in north western ontario dosent open till october 5. thanks again for your help. p.s Charlie looks like a VERY good dog.
@l7lll well thanks for watching and enjoying my videos just most times i am by myself and i cant record what im doing and do what im doing at the same time.
