  • I'm singing this song right now with the Spivey Hall Children's Choir and this is terrible, but the sopranos are overpowering the altos, which shouldn't be hard to control since the notes arent that high

  • With all respect to this effort of a high school choir, the point of the song is completely lost in elaborate arrangements. And kipperdude is absolutely correct--It was written as a fast reel to be danced to; it is a happy song.

  • The song, adapted by Arron Copland in Appalachian Spring, is actually called SIMPLE GIFTS written by Elder Joseph Brackett.

  • The song Is obviously copied off "lord of the dance" (an Irish song).

  • @OliieTheEpic this song belongs to the world now but it was created by the SHAKERS by one of their elders

the song was ment tobe a prase to God as was all that they did wether it was singing dancing ,working in the fields ,caring for the lost amoung trhem and or working in wood all they did and all the thought was a prayer to God for his blessings

this song was intended to be a fast reel not a somber hym it works well as either sing with pride as you are a blessing from God

  • I feel like the boys didnt match up with the girl in anything. the girls were beautiful..It feels like the boys didnt step up to the plate.

  • this is the same version that I'm competing with in my choir. Except we're doing the SSAA version. same thing, lol. :)

  • kings singers does an amazing version of this song! check it out :D

  • your women are good but your men suck where are all the BASSES

  • I agree.

    Bass sound??

  • Love the music but the words don't make a lot of sense to me.

  • It talks about getting back to the simple things in life. Material things only weigh you down.

  • It's a traditional Shaker Tune, who believe in simplicity and not taking things for granted.

  • We're singing this song (different arrangement) in LW Chorale right now... It's so pretty but everyone hates it xD You all did a really good job!

  • you guys are awsome you kick are school's butts:)

  • ok i'm a middle schooler and when our class sang it it sounded like we were 4 year olds compared to these guys!

  • That was beautiful! We did this same version in my old high school choir several years ago. (altos forever!)

  • This song's originally named "Simple Gifts"...

the starting and the ending had the most impact on me. It's so nice~~~

  • A beautiful, elegant version. Thank you.

  • Ironic that the song has been made complicated.
