  • The phrase ' Northern Soul' was coined by Blues and Soul magazine writer Dave Godin i the late 60's/early 70's to differentiate between the tunes that DJ's played in London, the new funkyer sounds , and the rarer 'Motown' sounding underground stuff that they played in the north of England, namely Manchesters Twisted Wheel club.

  • @nobuzzkill PLayed in Soul Clubs in the North of England from the arly 60s surviving to this day (not the original clubs but lots of others this is very vague but search for Wigan Casino as a starter :)
