@wetwillydude No we should be exploring both. Maybe one day we will be able to send a ROV to one of the Moons in our solar system and look into a ocean. A few are believed to maybe have one deep in the ice.

the red squid, that would be an BABY giant squid, depth matches, baby's swim at an estimated 350 - 650 meters in depth, whilst the bigger mommy and daddy, well, they have NEVER been caught on camera. Estimated size goes up to 20 -25 meters. Depth estimated at 2 Kilometers and below. Imagine the pressure 0_o

It's taningia danae - also known as an octopus squid (they lack the extra feeding tenticles). They have photophores on the tips of their arms along with very large fins.

ROV is unmanned but connected to and controlled from the surface via an umbilical containing copper wires and optic fibres. My company uses ROVs rated to 4000m but some can go deeper.
