for the acoustic intro, are you muting the "in-between" string when you strum, you know, when the two notes are separated by a string like the A and G strings? I always finger picked the intro for this reason and can't figure out how you are strumming it?

any effects??lol yeah theres heaps!for the clean theres chorus an reverb and the same for the distortion but crank the chorus rate and turn down the volume oh and a bit of fast delay but hardly any volume...its the eq that took the longest for this sound.plenty of mids and treble

I totally agree! I watched the live performance of the G3 in Tokyo! Petrucci and Satch were absolutely killer! Sure Vai has some skill, but hes stuff sound half stupid and its mostly just technically.. whereas John and Joe have those awesome melodic themes!

Thanks dude! im using a Boss GT5 effects pedal and just created the sounds from scratch, distorion (lots and kinda fuzzy) tone (alot of mids) delay ,reverb ,little chorus and wah...just mess with it till it sounds good! it goes striaght in my pc.
