this really is great, but im gonna give some crit.
at some points when you go into actual "shreds" you sound like youre not thinking about the notes. most of those "shreds" are scales sped up, and you missed the notes several times. you just have to think about it when youre doing it. id give 5*...but...ya know...YT -.-
I agree with you, this isn't my best soloing. Check out my newer vids (missing you cover and ner ner cover) if you want to see my more recent playing.
Though about my missing some notes in scale, most of those are intentional. I like using chromatic notes in fast passages, like Petrucci and Morse like to do.
@shot87 that makes sense, although you have to think about what kind of solo youre doing. Petrucci is progressive, idk about Morse...but progressive uses a different tone, and this solo isnt quite with that tone, and those accidentals or chromatics, whichever they may be, dont sound quite right in this. at least to me. lol
@knockemdead8 Do you listen to funk/fusion/jazz? Probably not.
You might wanna check out some Greg Howe or something before you start critiquing other players. There's a lot more to music than metal out there. It only takes repetition to play fast/ accurate; It takes a lot of thinking and imagination for improvisation. Just a word of wisdom from a fellow musician who's been playing music for over 10 years(though not at the time of the video)Please feel free to watch my recent vids if you like.
@shot87 sigh...now you sound like youre becoming peeved lol. (btw ive been playing for 10 years in august xD) and yes, i get what youre saying. but your backing track and solo style makes it sound a little jazzish, and the tone is a little metalish to me. but i was just saying a lot of the fast section sounds a little off. but that's probably because of how sloppy they were at this time, i guess. no offense, but you have to admit it IS kinda sloppy
Sexy bro!!! That's all improv shredding? Amazing, very clean. If I could suggest one thing though, you should throw some blues style riffs in, like some slow bendy passages. Idk, just what I would do...
