@milascave2 I wish I had a dime for every complaint I've had on the music despite changing it twice. This song fits my video for me and my view. It's one of the few that match the length the closest that I could use on youtube without penalty. From now on, anyone who doesn't like the sound can try using the MUTE function. Honestly, people, this is a video on youtube, not a radio station taking requests.
@milascave2 I cannot control the volume level or go in edit and change it. I'm sorry, I don't mean to be cross, but I've really been hassled on this a lot. This is why everyone has volume controls on their own computers. I've come to the realization that the complaint will never stop no matter what I do. "it's too loud, it's too quiet, don't like the song" It's insane. Whether its my "creative vision" or anything else. People are just going to have to get past it.
@Iwantapplez109 They make a high pitched squeak that is very very painful to my ears. That's the sensory disorder portion of my autism. Worse than nails on a chalkboard, but I don't like that either :D
Sometimes I feel bad about my issues with change. My mind does get really set on something and that automatically makes it right to me. For example: My friend died. A few years later her husband married a new lady. I refused to meet her and I screamed and freaked out because he was only supposed to have my friend. I know it seems mean, but it's how my brain works.
There is also a book called Take Control of Asperger's and it is a guide for teenagers with this and soon someday my book will be published about me and also for kids that have a brother or sister that is autistic that I am writing because of my brother!
Thanks very much for this video I wish my parents could understand me more because when I was really little every time my schedule changed such as my cousins coming over without telling me I would flip out and yell at the uncontrollably! The same with fabrics because I wear the same type of clothes everyday and they get mad and tell me just because I am a girl to wear better clothes. Btw have u read the book "a complete guide to Aspergers syndrome" by Tony Attwood it is really good ad useful! :)
@doodlebuggy15 : I have to get that book yet, it's on my shopping list. I have the Asperger's for Dummies book and it's also very good with a very good arrangement of info. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@TwilightOtakugirl I also have Aspergers and I am a girl I think that was thoughtful because I really can't understand why my parents don't understand me or about it because when I have fits my dad and mom always say act your age when sometimes I can't. I am 16 by the way. Also they tell me to dress my girl like because I were jeans,hi tops, and sweatshirts all the time because that's comfy and feels good for me!!
Thank you so much for this video... My 5year old son was diagnosed with Asperger's 6 months ago. Both my husband and I had no clue what it was or what to do. We are very fortunate to have help available, but as of yet we have not been very included or had behaviors explained to us. Now I will be more aware of the irritants and try to figure them out before we have melt downs.
Sorry about the double post ... we can't go outside our normal routine at all. We home school, and on a school day, we do school. No field trips or there's hell to pay. He can't tolerate loud noises. My neighbor is a teacher and kept telling me she thought he may have Asperger's, but because he had no serious social difficulties, I found it hard to believe. But now ... what do I do? Do I seek official help? Do I let him alone and let him be who he is? I don't know.
@snnbrg Asperger's has a spectrum all it's own even with or without distinct social difficulties. You should definitely seek out a specialist and ask about the possibilities or look into the tests. His rigidity can and will get in his way without support to help him learn about it. Also, the rigidity in routine will affect his social capabilities because he has no flexibility to work with or cooperate with others. Best of luck and feel free to stop back.
I'm just sitting here, reading this, in awe. My middle son has been very persnickety, rigid, regimented, routine-oriented since he was very small. His doctor tried to sell us on ADD, but I knew it wasn't and refused to medicate him. He's now almost 7, and his behavior hasn't changed, and we're working on alternative treatments. But everything, EVERYTHING here describes him. It was getting cold here, 30 degrees, and he wanted shorts.

I also have Asperger's, and I'm more sensitive in some senses more than others. Sometimes I hear things the others don't or aren't aware I have heard, can see A LOT of detail (which irritates the hell out of me when I try to draw something because I can't pencil in every single detail. My sense of touch doesn't seem to be affected and my sense of smell also irritates the hell out of me. I can smell things others can't...
@SorafiLynn I know what you mean. Sometimes it can be handy though. I've helped others by seeing the details they missed. It is a major pain as much as a boon though.
The only thing that bothers me the most out of the entire thing is, "How does your mind work?" gets asked to me CONSTANTLY. Some people I know were afraid to ask because they didn't want to irritate me but when I told them to ask, they did. But the same person asking three days later annoys the hell out of me...

@TwilightOtakugirl That is an assumed understanding and the video is not meant to be definitive of male or female. "he" is used in generic context and not intended to claim that Asperger's doesn't affect females. Sorry you were offended.
Interesting video (I just turned down the volume) I also hate balloons, will do almost anything to avoid them, I am now a 25 yr old adult and I live pretty much independently.
@Isobel201 glad to hear you are doing well. It's amazing how some sounds or sensations can be so much louder for us while others seem to get drowned out to inefficiency.
@rabbit220 Well, I just had the music changed to what youtube has available. I would make it silent if I could. Sorry. Ugh. All I can say if anyone doesn't like this song choice is SORRY. Turn down your volume or mute.
However, I really really like the way you describe some of the struggles in such detail, what's small to someone else might be huge to a person with Aspergers. These help me in explaining to my son's father what things my son goes through. His father and I dont live together and this past Summer he visited his Dad for the first time in 4 years. I found myself constantly reminding him of some of these types of smaller details as they arose...each separate time they arose.
@mamatude33 : Thank you very much. I wish I could turn off the music, but it won't let me do that. No, the music just didn't work out the way I hoped it would.
I have asperger's and i love to program and people say that me just sitting at a computer makes me NOT LEARN AT ALL but i know thats not true i made my own 3D intro and games computers and DVD movies.

Thank you so much for these words. My mum has been telling me for years that I should have my son assessed for aspergers. I just kept telling her he was just a bit more special than my other kids, he just needs a bit more time spent on him, he just needs a bit more attention. Thanks to your clarifying on so many levels, I am going to make some appointments to have my son assessed. Thank you
@thesuthoclan Glad that it's helpful. You had the right idea or makings of it though, by seeing that your son needed a little more support. Keep up the good work.
Thank you all for the great comments and advice. I'm sorry for anyone I haven't gotten to or responded on. Been busy in life of late, I'm sure all of you can relate.
What's so funny is my son heard the music on this video and said "mom what's that sound you can't play that song it will hurt my ears!" My son will be 4 in May and well I haven't had him evaluated yet but I do believe he has Asperger's and I am determined to help him have the best of everything. I do have to work on my patience a little more. But one thing I noticed about this was you said all 5 scenes are affected & that isn't true because he only has issues with smell, sounds, & textures.
The only thing I really saw that was misinformative was the slide that said "All autistics are sensitive in 5 senses".... That's not true. Some of them may have 4 out of 4, 3 out of 5, or one main sensory problem. Also, many, especially the severe ones, may be hyposensitive, meaning they are not sensitive enough.
@TheAutumBlog That's true, not necessarily ALL five sense, but to get the point across from such a short video I tried to simplify, maybe oversimplify. True some senses may not work at all like sensations to pain. My son had that for a couple of years, actually broke a toe and no one knew until it swelled up on him. Even then he didn't react to it. That corrected in time though, thankfully for us.
I really appreciated the tone of your sentences. It wasn't defensive, you didn't patronize the audience and on top of all that it was informative and uplifting (especially at the end where you say there doesn't need to be a cure). ...But I'm thinking, I have never doubted my neurotypicality, but I also get very aggitated when its hot. I love tiles and I get excessively angry when I lose something. Couldn't the things you list apply to all people?
@Weisenheimer78 Sorry it took me so long to get to you, I don't get messages in my inbox in email anymore. Yes, it could apply to all people, but it's in extremes and hand in hand with other comorbid factors. A pretty fair list of them actually.
@thewildeman2 No problem about the wait. I've actually done a lot of research since then. I think I have an idea about the comorbid factors of which you speak. I'm trying to learn to parent a child struggling with some sensory, digestive issues, etc. Best of luck in all you do!
@Weisenheimer78 Ahh research, that has been what I have had to do. Since I was diagnosed just after my son, I had to completely relearn myself. That meant learning my condition and how it affected me. That was a long journey and I'm still learning, since five years ago. It's been an amazing journey. The fact that you are doing that speaks volumes for who your child has in his (?) corner. Kudos.
For next time though, maybe make the colors less bright and contrasting, and the music something quiet and instrumental. These would have helped me pay better attention to the words. :)
Great video. My son is almost 3, and is autistic. I still have some ways to go but I'm really trying to figure out what triggers his meltdowns now. I hate not knowing why he's crying. But this helped me a lot.
thanks i tried telling my mom im an aspie but she said im being ridiculus this video started getting her concerned thank you for getting my mom to stop being so mean to me about being me coats all year and long hair included i really owe you
You described my son perfectly! Thank you for reminding me to be patient...It gets difficult for me sometimes, but it's more difficult for him, i know.
Thank you, this was so very informative, I know if my daughter was in the rain before school and her pants got wet, that is all she would think about. not being able to concentrate on school, The fear of slipping on the bus or ice also seemed to be something that would make her physically sick. She will admit she is a germa-phob, definitely likes things to be organized or she has anxiety attacks. Triggers=raising voice, spanking, smacking the hand, or restraint. It would set her off.
tnx it helped me a lot...nxt week my son & i will visit a developmntl pedia...coz my four yr old son can say two words and he cannot make sentences yet...bit worried but i hope, we'll be fine...
he was diagnosed and already attending therapies...so hard but for our sons sake we'll be fine...bcoz after four sessions he's improving and i'm glad we decided to visit a devt pedia...
This video is brilliant, excellent job. I have NLD which is very much like Asperger's Syndrome...and I know what you mean about balloons; I am always petrified of them popping *sudden loud noises cause me to double over as well* and slamming doors is the same as well. Also, if I feel something is out of place I can't sleep until it's corrected - is the relevant to Asperger's or could it be linked to the NLD or OCD?
All of the above and any of the above. Our sensory issues can be so acute that we wind up very OCD about them, and we have little choice in the matter. Thank you for your comment of approval. :)
Thanks so much!!! hard to know exactly what triggers things sometimes. my 7 year old son is really finding school socializing hard at the moment. Looking for some answers that will help
Thank you so much for posting this. I just wish it had been available for my parents and my teachers to read when I was a child.
I don't dislike having Asperger's syndrome; I am what I am. But it is important that neurotypicals are aware of our needs so that they become more tolerant. After all, we are trying to fit into a society created by neurotypicals.....
Thank you the video- its like trying to put all the bits together and at times when problems happen you cant see what may have triggered something. :)
Yes, exactly, it can be very hard to figure out what sets our autism kids off at times, and redirection can be quite a challenge. I am glad this is helpful. You are most welcome.
Thank you for this! I am a single mother & my daughter's idiosyncrasies have been so baffling, painfully confusing. She does not yet have a diagnosis, but the more I learn about Aspies, the brighter our future looks! She is currently receiving some special help & observation in school while we work towards a diagnosis. BEST
A solid diagnosis is what opens doors for support and benefits that may surprise you. Aspergers and other forms are starting to be taken more seriously. I survived with NO support system and through abuse, think what that means for your child who clearly has the opposite? :)
Some of that applies to me, and my brother. How can you tell if its just sensitivity, and at what point does it become "serious" enough to be diagnosed as Aspergers?
I don't know what counts as "neuro-typical" actions- our (me and my bro's) dad is slighly Aspergers too, so its hard to tell what we've "learned" from him when we were little , and what is actually us (like a total inability to lie and a strict sense of justice). I've been told there's a genetic link?
I would say, that your questions merit enough to see a specialist. That is the best advice I have for you. The thing is, that it is a broad spectrum and each part is a spectrum in itself. Having Asperger's you may or may not be as sensitive as I am. No one is affected exactly the same. Do you find yourself feeling clumsy in conversations? Do you have a hard time knowing when someone is kidding with you? Do surprises in the day annoy you? Those are just a few symptoms. I have videos on them.
i have aspergers for many years they labeled me seletive mute and dislexic and also ADHD then when i was about 19 a doctor looked at me and said i had aspergers everything on ur video is so true
yes i am doing a lot better but i also learn that the aspergers is worse when i eat gluten or soy so i been keeping way from that stuff it helps a lot
Getting a diagnosis really has little to do with how you actually got the condition. A diagnosis is just a Doctors confirmation of what you have or don't have. Diagnosis does not confirm timelines or history, tho the doctor may be able to help you peice that together.
THAT WAS AWESOME!!! My son has Asperger and I can never ask for a better child. He does well in school and socializes with others pretty well. He has his moments but as you said, since we are aware of his condition we dirct him and he adjusts most of the times. As much as I was sared two years ago, as much as I am optimistic today.
This video would have helps me soo much 2 years ago, with my son. Now I already know that everything you say is true it's exactly how I feel about my son and our situation. It is so relieving to know now whats Ive been thinking all along. Its really special coming from someone who has gone through what my son is going though now. Thank you for spreading knowledge.
Well, without some inner searching and diagnosis, you can never really tell how far it has gone in any one direction. But how do you feel now? Do you feel like you have good control? It's a learning process. You may have overcome much of what bothered you back then. That doesn't mean that you don't have it anymore, you just have better control. Best to you and thank you for commenting.
i think i had mild autism when i was a kid. when i'd focus on a sound, it would drive me nuts. i was very sensitive to the seasons, temperatures, feelings etc. i can relate. and i imagine for other people it can be even worse. luckily it's settled down in me now, maybe for good or bad?
and i am practicing but it is just weird, jears i did not know that i had asperger but then i go to AMACURA and they find out that i had asperger and i am taking pills for it right now, the pills are medicins so it kinda helpt me
This upload just helped me alot. My son was diagnosed today. I still can't explain how I feel. Sometimes I don't know if I should treat him the same as his siblings or be a bit easier on him. But the sensitivity factor helped alot, this explains why he freaks out when he is getting his hair cut. Thankx a bunch
I'm glad it was helpful to you. I don't know about "easier" for an aspie child, but certainly a little bit different with a ton of patience. My son has a problem with haircuts too. I have heard that there are a couple of views the child can take, for one, they are cutting off pieces of him, for two there's the whole being touched issue, then texture and itchyness. As an adult aspie I can't wait to get home and shower after a haircut, the itching drives me up the wall.
A lot of people watching this will be on the spectrum, so may I politly sugest softer music?

Thank you so much for these words. My mum has been telling me for years that I should have my son assessed for aspergers. I just kept telling her he was just a bit more special than my other kids, he just needs a bit more time spent on him, he just needs a bit more attention. Thanks to your clarifying on so many levels, I am going to make some appointments to have my son assessed. Thank you
thesuthoclan 1 year ago

But one thing I noticed about this was you said all 5 scenes are affected & that isn't true because he only has issues with smell, sounds, & textures.

i have to tell you this is in my opinion one of the most informative videos on aspergers.you get 10 stars great job...

TheAutumBlog 2 years ago
@TheAutumBlog That's true, not necessarily ALL five sense, but to get the point across from such a short video I tried to simplify, maybe oversimplify. True some senses may not work at all like sensations to pain. My son had that for a couple of years, actually broke a toe and no one knew until it swelled up on him. Even then he didn't react to it. That corrected in time though, thankfully for us.
thewildeman2 1 year ago
I really appreciated the tone of your sentences. It wasn't defensive, you didn't patronize the audience and on top of all that it was informative and uplifting (especially at the end where you say there doesn't need to be a cure). ...But I'm thinking, I have never doubted my neurotypicality, but I also get very aggitated when its hot. I love tiles and I get excessively angry when I lose something. Couldn't the things you list apply to all people?
Weisenheimer78 2 years ago
@Weisenheimer78 Sorry it took me so long to get to you, I don't get messages in my inbox in email anymore. Yes, it could apply to all people, but it's in extremes and hand in hand with other comorbid factors. A pretty fair list of them actually.
thewildeman2 1 year ago
@thewildeman2 No problem about the wait. I've actually done a lot of research since then. I think I have an idea about the comorbid factors of which you speak. I'm trying to learn to parent a child struggling with some sensory, digestive issues, etc. Best of luck in all you do!
Weisenheimer78 1 year ago
@Weisenheimer78 Ahh research, that has been what I have had to do. Since I was diagnosed just after my son, I had to completely relearn myself. That meant learning my condition and how it affected me. That was a long journey and I'm still learning, since five years ago. It's been an amazing journey. The fact that you are doing that speaks volumes for who your child has in his (?) corner. Kudos.
thewildeman2 1 year ago
You video had great information.

RetardedGenius93 2 years ago
All of the above and any of the above. Our sensory issues can be so acute that we wind up very OCD about them, and we have little choice in the matter. Thank you for your comment of approval. :)

Thank you so much for posting this. I just wish it had been available for my parents and my teachers to read when I was a child.
I don't dislike having Asperger's syndrome; I am what I am. But it is important that neurotypicals are aware of our needs so that they become more tolerant. After all, we are trying to fit into a society created by neurotypicals.....
clangergirl1969 2 years ago 6
Very true, very true
thewildeman2 2 years ago
Yes, neurotypicals have too many social rules, I find. There has to be about a million of them that they invented.
bleedingbanshe13 2 years ago
Thank you the video- its like trying to put all the bits together and at times when problems happen you cant see what may have triggered something. :)
rache812 3 years ago
Yes, exactly, it can be very hard to figure out what sets our autism kids off at times, and redirection can be quite a challenge. I am glad this is helpful. You are most welcome.

Thank you for this! I am a single mother & my daughter's idiosyncrasies have been so baffling, painfully confusing. She does not yet have a diagnosis, but the more I learn about Aspies, the brighter our future looks! She is currently receiving some special help & observation in school while we work towards a diagnosis. BEST
PapoosesCPST 3 years ago

I've been told there's a genetic link?
any help would be 'preciated.
CassandraSarah 3 years ago 2
I would say, that your questions merit enough to see a specialist. That is the best advice I have for you. The thing is, that it is a broad spectrum and each part is a spectrum in itself. Having Asperger's you may or may not be as sensitive as I am. No one is affected exactly the same. Do you find yourself feeling clumsy in conversations? Do you have a hard time knowing when someone is kidding with you? Do surprises in the day annoy you? Those are just a few symptoms. I have videos on them.
thewildeman2 3 years ago
Ah, it's good to know his triggers so early on.

i have aspergers for many years they labeled me seletive mute and dislexic and also ADHD then when i was about 19 a doctor looked at me and said i had aspergers everything on ur video is so true
kiddlyjesus3000 3 years ago
Thank you, hopefully you are on a better path now then. I know diagnosis helped me immensely.
thewildeman2 3 years ago
yes i am doing a lot better but i also learn that the aspergers is worse when i eat gluten or soy so i been keeping way from that stuff it helps a lot
kiddlyjesus3000 3 years ago
can you get diagnosed with it just wondering i thought you were born with it
mutyand 3 years ago
Getting a diagnosis really has little to do with how you actually got the condition. A diagnosis is just a Doctors confirmation of what you have or don't have. Diagnosis does not confirm timelines or history, tho the doctor may be able to help you peice that together.
thewildeman2 3 years ago
THAT WAS AWESOME!!! My son has Asperger and I can never ask for a better child. He does well in school and socializes with others pretty well. He has his moments but as you said, since we are aware of his condition we dirct him and he adjusts most of the times. As much as I was sared two years ago, as much as I am optimistic today.
Thank you for sharing =))

This video would have helps me soo much 2 years ago, with my son. Now I already know that everything you say is true it's exactly how I feel about my son and our situation. It is so relieving to know now whats Ive been thinking all along. Its really special coming from someone who has gone through what my son is going though now. Thank you for spreading knowledge.

thewildeman2 3 years ago

This upload just helped me alot. My son was diagnosed today. I still can't explain how I feel. Sometimes I don't know if I should treat him the same as his siblings or be a bit easier on him. But the sensitivity factor helped alot, this explains why he freaks out when he is getting his hair cut. Thankx a bunch
khaidenbear 3 years ago
I'm glad it was helpful to you. I don't know about "easier" for an aspie child, but certainly a little bit different with a ton of patience. My son has a problem with haircuts too. I have heard that there are a couple of views the child can take, for one, they are cutting off pieces of him, for two there's the whole being touched issue, then texture and itchyness. As an adult aspie I can't wait to get home and shower after a haircut, the itching drives me up the wall.

I have aspergus and my mother has more trouble looking after Jefferey, my smaller brother with autism O_o
Eggyvideos 3 years ago
Age and experience in handling your own conditions can play a major part in that. How old is your younger brother?
thewildeman2 3 years ago
4 years, and he is always beating someone pu laughing crazily every day!
Eggyvideos 3 years ago
That makes sense, because of his age, he will come out of it in years to come. Hyperactivity will remain in varied levels until he is an adult.
