Tomorrow in Ukraine's Orange Revolution seven years. Today over Ukraine gathered gray clouds, but the Ukrainians believe in the idea offreedom and will fight with koruptsionnym government of Yanukovych.
Freedom it's a right given by GOD, it dosn't matter what ignorant people try to do to take it away from us, we will fight, for the right, to live in FREEDOM.
Lennon had transformed into a New Yorker. It was by far his favorite place in the world. By the end of his life he considered himself more of a New Yorker than a Brit. So yeah, he'd have definitely been up there rocking with Paul.
It was devastating to know that many of these commuters (Whom I did not know personally, but commuted daily on this rail.) died at the World Trade Center. (While riding on the train, many times there would be incidents of a commuter falling asleep on my shoulder or someone elses shoulder in the morning.) I was in Florida when9/11 happened. I cried and still mourning for my fellow commuters and those who died that terrible day. What happened doesnt make sense.
If John was alive he would have been devasted with what happened on 9/11. John LOVED New York. If John would have written a song about it, it would be VERY different from McCartney's version. Much deeper. John and Paul often would 'say' the same thing.. in very different ways... I just happen to prefer John's way.
I'm sure if John had been there.. he would have been devasted about what happened on 9/11He LOVED New York. I'm also sure that any song he would have written would have been much deeper than McCartney's. John and Paul could say the 'same' thing in VERY different ways... I just happen to prefers John's way.
You are right! Lennon would have been the first up there helping Americans heal from this horrible event. I'm from N.J. and commuted up north daily to Newark, N.J on the N.J. Transit Coast Line rail system.( Newark, N.J. is one stop before N.Y.C.)
Peace and freedom are completely different things. You can live in peace but not have your freedom. To have freedom, though, sometimes you have to fight to defend it. Basing an argument on significantly different themes is the wrong approach. This song is more an anthem than Imagine was. Imagine was about universal brotherhood, right? Well this was a simple song scrapped together to inspire a hurting people. Not an earth-shattering song, but when I first heard it, it hit the right spot.
john lennon would have hated this song??? wot the fuck are you on about,he spent most of his life trying to promote peace and freedom, john would have loved it !!
for the right to live in freedom"... "Anyone tries to take it away...They'll have to answer" It's not a song about peace. I recommend "imagine" instead.
Actually, McCartney liked "Double Fantasy". Lennon would have hated this song, just listen carefully to the lyrics of "Imagine": the exact opposite of Paul's "Freedom".
:-) sandykopi I was being sarcastic. Though I'll probably get 500 thumbs-downs for saying it I think "Double Fantasy" is one of Lennon's best "solo" efforts (made better by some above average Yoko material). Though remember it was hearing McCartney's great "Coming Up" single that prompted Lennon to actualy make an effort with "Double Fantasy".
Yeah, this song is awful reactionary claptrap that he should be ashamed of. Frankly I'm not a fan of "Imagine" but it's 100x better than this rubbish.
call me crazy but in the record version of this song i can't help to relate the drums in the intro to those old war's drum beats..remember the time this song came out..
yeah well... you're not crazy, but "Give Peace a Chance" had a similar drum beat too, and yet it's the most famous anti-war song ever. Did Paul "borrowed"? Probably: Paul shares credit (Lennon/McCartney) eventhough he had nothing to do with it. Freedom was Paul's attempt to demonstrate he can write an peace anthem too. Did he succeed? No.
i don't think give peace a chance was a lennon/mccartney song man ,it was outside the beatles ,lennon solo stuff...the drum beat is quite different also,in freedom the sound of the drums are extremely military..in the lennon song don't.
True, it was made outside the Beatles, and the song was written by John alone (Yoko might have helped), but the credit is Lennon/McCartney because Lennon was still under contract with the Beatles. You can check it out. And I'm not saying both songs had the exact same beat, but the intention is similar.
That's where you're wrong lady,Paul's "Freedom" is a moving track,he did succeed it's just that so much of his solo work never gets the radio airplay that it should therefore it can't reach the masses.
Im British, and I say we did stand still and supported you in 9/11 and also you supported us in the london Bombing so thanks to all americans also were sorry to all people who died in the 9/11, the british singers ect,in this carry british respect to you,Thanks U.S.A
