Do you know what would be kind a weird but awesome to me? That in HL3 / Episode 3 there was a fast moment that you could see in the right time right place, where canine dog and this kind of thing was communicating like we and vortigaunts do. Would kind a show that animals have respect among similar animals. Or would be also funny if there was a dog just barking to houndeye, and a fight between them

Initially, Houndeyes were intended to be Docile and not attack the Player, but VALVe found Testers killed the Houndeyes regardless because it was "fun" so VALVe made 'em fight back. So you can thank VALVe's Testers for making them Hostile.

apparently they where originally designed to aid the player as a sort of minion but the game testers just shot them without a seconds thought so they cut it XD
