I think Tite Kubo has made the case for IchiRuki. Poor Renji.....Renji just adores Rukia, but she doesn't notice. Orihime loves Ichigo, but he thinks of her only as a friend. I think from the first Kubo was hinting at an attraction between Ichigo and Rukia. She noticed immediately his resemblance to Kaien Shiba, the other man she loved. And do you recall her reaction to the question posed by Orihime, about her feelings for Ichigo? She spit out her milk! That's a strong reaction.
