i had surgery when i was 13 on the 11th Jan 2007 for a 62 degree bend. it is a really hard time though was well worth it as my curvature would have increased a degree a year. don't worry if you have to have the surgery because it will all be fine and you will be walking the next day and get better day by day. Good luck to anyone who needs the surgery.
@mrtanbk Perfectly natural to be scared. First couple days are rough, but I was more upset because I wanted a real meal. Every day you get stronger and things get easier. I had my surgery a little over 7 years ago. I feel so much better and I'm really glad I had my surgery done. Good luck to you!
i had this surgery done (55 and 47 degree curvature). dont be scared, the worst part is waking up afterwards and the nurses make you walk the next day. it sucks that you cant turn your body on your own, so you will constantly bug the nurses for help. I had mine done August 2, 2011. And even though its been months, you'll still have pain (i did). i dont let people touch my back cause it feels weird as *poop*. And i might have to do this all over again because my curvature is still increasing :(
@XxPaveLowxX Hi I just got diagnoised with scolosis and went to see my surgeon and anything over 40 is where they think about surgery don't worry unless you r still growing fast you will be fine
Hey guys ,I'm 16 years old female ,I weight 46 km and my height is 1.62.
I had my surgery before 2 years. 54 degree.
the surgery as the doctor said was perfect, I look perfect for his words, but still I feel like something wrong cause the pain keeps disturbing me for daily basis.
Hey buddy, I had a surgery 2 years ago ,I had 54 degree and there is something that disturbes me for daily basis - Pain. Would you like to share some informantion with me about the pain? I want to know if there's something wrong with my Surgery or does it heppens to everyone.
i would just like some clarification, im 17 and i went to the doctor who noticed i had a slight scoliosis, he said its at 28 degrees and its not too bad. but i was reading online that anything over a 15 degrees might require surgery. So does anyone know of any exercise that i can do that will help me to not worsen the degrees because i really dont want surgury
@XxPaveLowxX search at youtube : scoliosis exercises. There are some helpful exercises there, try them and buy the necessary equipment. I have scoliosis too, I'm 16 and I'm exercising almost every day because I want my back to straight :)) Hope everything go fine xxxxx
i'm 17 and have 42 degrees lumbar scoliosis. they recommended the surgery but i'm not sure of the risks. i'm honestly terrified of ending up paralyzed or something. how high are the risks? i'd really appreciate it
@kj4004444 my friend had 73 degrees, and now is 32 and she did amaazing. i'm not sure about risks cause, it wasnt me obviously. If you didnt get the surgery would your back end up bothering you later? i always wondered that.
@kj4004444 I had the same operation 6 weeks ago, as with any operation there are indeed risks the worst one being death, but your more likely to die driving to work. paralysis is another possible side effect but again very rare. Your surgeon will go through all of the possible known complications with you and answer any questions you have, my only complication is that my scar didn't heal properly and has turned into a hole at the bottom of my back which they are trying to fix at the moment.
@kj4004444 how old are you if i may ask ? that also affects recovery, I just spent my 17th marking my 6week post op date. i had a 70 degree curve if any of that info helps (:
@kj4004444 I'm 16 and I have almost 60 degrees, I'm supposed to be doing the surgery next may. Like every surgery there are risks obviously and I was scared too at first, but when the senior nurse in charge told me that during the 14 years she had been dealing with these surgeries, nothing serious like paralysis ever happened. If you don't do the surgery now, it could affect you in the future if it keeps bending..like pregnancy for example if you're a girl :/
Dr Lonner and others of the like, I salute you for your skills and abilities. It all looks nice on the computer images and x-rays but the abdomen all opened up is a different story especially to us non medical people. Your commentary is great and i wish you and others successful surgeries always. Thank you & God Bless.
