the sidekick id is basically the watered down version of the sidekick 3. i read that the sidekick id used the basic frame from the sidekick 3 and that they were too lazy to actually reconfigure the shell so they decided to put a plastic cover over the usb port, attempting to make it "hidden". (just what i read)

look dude all u have to do is download a program on your pc called intellisync and then once u set it uhp and everything, the program will know the hardware of the sidekick id and then once it knows the hardware u can download music onto the sidekick and then all the music and stuff that u download will be in the downloaded catalog,

The mini USB port is for Developer use only. If you have an Developer's account and the right drivers along with the correct cable, you'll be able to actually utilize this.

They originally didn't even want to put it on the phone but wanted the developers to open it up manually to do their bug checks, but it proved to be too inefficient so they decided to go with that design you currently know and hate.

O-M-G A USB PORT WOW! Too bad your computer acts like Terry Schiavo when you plug it in. The purpose of the port is for SDK users. If you can code programs for the Sidekick then DANGER will send you the drivers so you can actually make use of this port. Otherwise it's just a hole. I'm just so tired of people flipping about how it doesn't have one cause they don't know where it is, and people flipping out cause they don't know what it's for!

Right, I know this for a fact. The USB port is there for a reason, if they didnt want you to know it was there they would have properly-sealed it up, i mean case-over it with a solid device, meaning you couldnt open it...

Ths USB is there, as it says in the MANUAL you get when you guy these things, it actually states near the last few pages "USB support" jesus, if people learned to read the fucking manual...

well acculy i did read it and acculty its not to but media on the phone, but if some how the software on the sidekick iD were to screw up or erased, then the USB port is there so that you can re-load the software back on to your phone.
