Don't bother checking it out, its a heap of shit... well maybe if you roll the bass and the body completely off on the halfstack version. It still feels like it should have costed nearly half the price to make. They must have had the pre-amp filters wrong from the start, then they tried to save it by giving it two gain controls as an afterthought.
@EuphorbusBTB You have to be an experienced guitar player to know how to use the Vintage Modern. If you are a modern guitar player who is used to having pedals and footswitches do all of the work for you, then you will not be able to handle the Vintage Modern.
I would add a boss delay, maybe a wah and just your guitar. other than that, what you hear is what you get, this amp is fabulous. I tried it once and it blow me away. too bad that here in Argentina its too expensive to get it. good luck =)
about sparklijelibean message i really did not know that marshall don't give amps to their artists they do so much publicity around marshall i don't understand !?
Bassically Marshall Never give Amps to there Artists it Was a rule made ByJim M back at the beginning When Marshall was kicking off he says "Artists who want to use Marshall use them because they really want to so they pay for there own rather than giving them to people"
And btw everybody Slash Payed for his VM's at artist price
And Jimi Hendrix said he would use Marshalls and pay for his own as long as he got support wherever he was
i have a question - i'm trying to decide whether to get a top of the range vintage modern head, or a jvm410 head to go with a mode four cab. Any idea which would be better?
That actually sounds terrible to me. Marshall's are great if you've got a sponsorship deal with them for free amps, technicians, and roadies but otherwise there's much better kit out there today.
I own a JVM410H and a TSL100 head... There's more on my shopping list as a tour and more recording are coming along... VM head and 2061x to name but 2... And then though I'm not a bass player, I also see a VBA bass head in a not so distant future purely for the fun of it... Hail Marshall !!

oilpit 3 years ago 2
i bought the JVM, and it does not blow - it's a fantastic sounding amp!
I modded the tubes as well so it sounds even better than usual
evilotto77cheese 3 years ago
I had a JVM, I hated it and sold it
but to each his own right
oilpit 3 years ago
yeah, i'm basically going to build up a big collection of amps - VM next, then a mesa...

Marshall dont give free amps to there endorsees,
slash and zakk wylde and all the other pay for there own amps purely just because they want to use marshalls,
marshall is one of the only companys that dont bribe there artists into using there amps unfortunately like mesa and peavey

Still sounds shit and I know for a fact they do endorse people with free amps. Maybe not Slash but definitely others. Thank you.
wikichris 2 years ago
With all due respect,
Marshall dont give there amps to anybody even if you are slash,
Thats one of there big rules
Why do you think they are priced so well
sparklijelibean 2 years ago
Gibson does! If not how would artists pay like slash pay x80 8,000$
slimyesli 2 years ago
Only one in history that got free Marshalls was Hendrix.

Saving up for one of these, or the JVM, but the 410 is SOOOO expensive! My dream Marshall is a DSL JCM 2000, but they are hard to find these days.
