Good riddance. I never cared for Speed as a character. He was arrogant and careless. He was just a "personality-less" guy in the background the whole time, who just went around with a deadpan expression on his face. He was barely a character. Speedle's replacement, Ryan Wolfe, now HE'S a cool character.

He and CBS parted on rather bad terms, Rory was forbidden to do anything on TV for 4 years because he got out of his contract early. So when he came back in season 6, that was because he was contractly obligated to come back whenever CBS wanted him to. He also didn't like how Speed died, he thought it was stupid. And last, he declined to come back when they asked him for the season 8 premiere.

I doubt he's that happy to go back to working for CBS again no matter how much he loves the cast.

Now I don't know for sure that Rory is forever going to decline going back to CBS. But from what he has said, he's not interested. And besides, Speed is dead, the best they can do is flashback.

Actually, Speed couldn't take the filming hours and he requested the writers write this part in. So essentially, he wanted to stop filming in CSI. But he did make a return in Season 6 Episode 4 to Delko.

I cried so much watching that episode, Speed was my favorite. I always thought he and H were the best team mates. I know the guy wanted of the show, but it is not the same without him. I was pissed when i saw Speed was killed off the show. Then i did a little research and found out that Rory Cochrane (Speedle) wanted off the show cause he was bored of the "scientific dialog" he was given. He asked to be let go and they decided to kill him off rather then let him ride off into the sunset for future episodes. Gotta give him credit. He wasnt happy and he quit a top rated show when he coulda made a lotta money.

Speedle was my fav out of all the team so I was in tears when he died. It was funny though because my dad came into my room and saw me crying over CSI Miami. He rolled his eyes and said 'It's just a TV show!' which really annoyed me.
