I think Japan is the REAL hero of WW2. Everyone thinks they were bad and allied with the Nazis but look, I watch a lot of anime, so I know that Japan are good people. They saw that the most powerful country, the US, wasn't doing anything about it, so they bombed Pearl Harbor to get them involved. Why else would they bomb it?

"Downfall" is a terrific movie. As a World War Two history buff, I really enjoyed it and would recommend this movie to anyone.
I do have to say however, that many of the parodies are funny as hell and I hope we see more in the future!

Hmmmm so there was never any witnesses from the bunker that know what was actually said... That sucks i wish i could know... But anyway this is one of the most serious scenes in movie history... And the fake ones are pretty funny too

This movie is based on their accounts, especially on the memories of Traul Junge, Hitler's secretary (the girl comforting the crying girl.) Also, this particular scene and rant is based on a real event that happened in the bunker, written up by many of those who witnessed it. Apparently what Hitler says here is quite close to the truth.

It is hard to imagine the mindset in this bunker towards the end, truly one of the great stories in the history of our civilization. Ein Reich, Ein Volk, Ein Fuhrer, he led them from the darkness, only to return them into it less than a decade later. I believe Adolf Hitler is one of the few names that will live throughout the ages as a warning to the future about just how dangerous ethnically charged nationalism can become.

I mean this scene clearly shows the genius of Bruno Ganz. But you're right, the Academy Awards / Oscar have become bullshit. The moment the Nazis cut back on military expenses, which they would need to do eventually since they were building up a massive debt, all the old problems would return along with a few new ones.
