One thing though, the dislike of Beast Machine had made Hasbro not wanting to venture further or on a different path in all their newer series. Beast Machines has a LOT of firsts, and was probably the only one written with a complete story in hand.

I say kudos to BM, they took it in a different direction.

@kri951 He didn't, none of them reverted during Beast Wars. The reversion is caused by Megatron's transformation lock virus. For everyone else, it causes - and was intended to cause - immediate transformation paralysis. However a side-effect of the Transmetal process seems to be that they "devolve" to their previous form first. Silverbolt and Rhinox, are obviously missing; as non-Transmetals, they would have been immediately affected.

beast machines went WAY off of the path that made beast wars kick so much ass. too bad they never followed through with Transtech or at least used those designs in beast machines. they looked awesome

Funny thing is, this scene never could have technically happened. If you the finale of Beast Wars season1 into season2, Optimus Primal dies, then has his spark inserted into a new vacant protoform by Rhinox.

So, the Optimus Primal that ends Beast Wars as Optimal Optimus (this one), while the same soul-spark, is a completely different body, which means the body's default form would have been the transmetal ape of season2, not the organic ape of season1.

He so could have transformed if he was only able to some how grab ahold of the ape head and force it down to the chest and held it there long enough for the overide to kick in. Then "prime jets on!" Flys up fires missles and flys away.

How the hell was Megatron able to get back before the Maximals did inspite of being straped to the front of the Autobot pod and entering the transwarp field at the same time they did? And how the hell was he able to put together an army of sparkless drone transformers, steal all the sparks of cybertron, destroy all cybertronian records and get his beast mode fucked up all in the course of one episode? EXPLAIN STORY, EXPLAIN

The transwarp field is a conduit through time. The longer you're in there, the further through time you travel. Megatron broke free and exited the field earlier than the Maximals. Since he didn't travel as far into the future (or their "present") as the Maximals, he had time to get all those things done.

Megatron's virus was intended to lock the Cybertronian citizens so they couldn't transform, and deactivate them, which is what happened to Rhinox and Silverbolt. But it had a slightly different effect on those who had gone through Transmetalization, ie: Primal, Cheetor, B.A. and Rattrap. It caused transformation lock but not deactivation. Instead they reverted back to pre-Transmetal forms.

In the real world, because designing and building 3D models for pre-BW bodies would have been expensive.

i thought when they went to cybertron they were transformered to robots. so then like i dont get it how come they went back to beast mode?

When they arrived on Cybertron, they still had their Earth formatting: animal and robot modes. They didn't revert to their pre-BW Cybertronian formatting. So, when they arrived on Cybertron and got infected, it all happened to the forms we saw on Earth in BW.

As mentioned, those who had Transmetal upgrades "devolved" back to earlier states (they lost their upgrades), while those who had not been Transmetalized (Rhinox, Silverbolt) immediately deactivated. Just like the other Cybertron citizens.

you can really tell the difference in the cgi styles between both bw and bm. i think the main thing i didn't like about bm was the fire when something exploded. other than that, i did love both series and still wish a 3rd one would come to life. :)
