The only problem with making a movie out of it wouldn't be the money these day's. It would be the fact that the people who haven't played the game would see it as another sci-fi movie, nothing special. And the one's who have, would be disappointed becourse when they played the game, their brains produced all the little chemicals that results in the nostalgic fealing you're all writing from today. Seeing a reincarnation of this as a movie would only be a misinterpretation of all the good memories

the only reason this was not a movie is the production cost was too high for this project and was easier to make it a game. but today it would not be a problem.
