@mdross9500 thats the trick of the thing, not to know, maybe he is hallucinating that everyone can see what he sees, maybe he's not hallucinating at all, maybe his hallucinations have become his reality
The insertion of VHS tape is symbolic for programming one's mind. I am guessing the movie Matrix was influenced by this as the agents in that movie plunge their arm into civilians chests to get what they wanted them to do.
good call on The Matrix. I love films that try to go Marshal Mcluhan on us, we need to approach 'Reality' alot more critically these days, now that screens & cameras surround us, 24/7
You know what's great about Cronenberg? It's the little things. Like in this segment, when he walks past that window in the alley, and the window frames the alleyway like a TV picture, and it startles James Woods' character. This shit is art. It is ART!
Huge chunks of the movie missing here.

this...iss.....probably the most fucked up movie I've ever watched....and it's awesome!

How does everyone else see this weird shit happening too, if it's supposedly all just part of James Woods' hallucination?

Fuck the Matrix! So overrated. Where's the subtlety of a film like this?
The Matrix was all sets and slow motion... big fucking deal! They were just ripping off
John Woo and Spielburg. and Gilliam and Ridley Scott... so mainstream!
Cronenburg was not trying to go mainstream with this film!

This reminds me of the Matrix; he's the "One" and can now use the system against the creators.
baakal01 2 years ago 3
except he is fucking crazy and the system is pretty much using him to kill himself. or something...........this movie is weird lol

haha, I completely agree

For those of you who like this movie (and can tolerate anime), you should check out a movie called Mind Game.
