@tommytube2103 i would guess the E revo cause i don't even think the airport security would know what an AR.Drone is so you might not be able to bring it. But ,The 1/10 E revo is EXTREMLY big and that would be hard to carry,So you consider getting the 1/16 e revo instead of the drone.

i have one of these they are grate fun but the range and battery 8nt that good, you porbs only get about 10 meters range in a house and 15ish outside but i gess it depends on how think your walls are you also get 15mins battery life wich isnt to bad. i hope this answers some of your questshions

Okay, so couldn't you in theory, use an ar.drone with a 4G device (presumably you can now with mods), and physically strap a 4G phone to the drone, thereby allowing it to take it's network with it, then fly it from a linux based stationary machine that's been networked into the 4G hotspot thereby giving it a range only limited by it's cellular network??

@SplittingAt0ms no because they aren't in the same network. Same mobile network, different local network. It doesn't work like that. It's like having two different wireless access points in the same house. The computers can't communicate with the others unless they are connected to the same access point. It also depends on what the ar drone does. If you modded it heavily and replaced whatever it uses for wi-fi with something 4G somehow and connected a computer to that it might work.

Ya, of course you can, you just need to make sure it's not too heavy, but I'm sure this thing can carry a little weight.

You can get all sorts of sizes of 3S1P lipos from hobbyking, find one that's just a little heavier, not too much.

A 3S1P at 1300mAh would work fine, you just need to solder on a proper adaptor, maybe you could order a bunch of XT60 plugs and replace the stock ones too. The zippy cells about 25C would do fine, and they are dirt cheap, like $15 each.

Worked great until I did an altitude test. I lost contact and it flew well over a hundred feet until it dropped like a stone a block away. it took me 2 hours to find it.

Cool thing was that video was transmitting for well over an hour so I could triangulate and find out where it was. The image showed it was in a Japanese Maple tree. I kinda wish the thing would balance it self out and land on its own when it loses contact....

I bought a HD recordable DVR for $25 on ebay. Very tiny and light. Got some fantastic footage recorded. I rarely use the image on the iPhone cause you can't really use it to pilot the Drone.
