Snape is spectacular he has so many layers but once you read the books you realize he's not evil or good he's just misunderstood and confused and when every thing finnaly falls into place it's to late for him to change so he gives up his memerys his last apolgy to lilly....
Harry was the son of the man that Snape loathed to the core, and of the woman he loved. To see him walking into your old school and having to teach a mini James and then having to see Lily every time you look into his eyes is just..... (for lack of a better word) terrible.
People who hate James and who hate Lily for not choosing Snape are not true Snape fans. They "love" Snape so much they fail to see who he truly is. I was sympathetic towards him but overall I was rather indifferent to Snape throughout the books to be honest, that was until I read the last one. @2009Richa Yeah, he loved her...in the twisted, obsessive, controlling way people like him "love" someone. He was more or less trying to back into a romantic relationship by being her best friend, which almost *never* works and is pretty much the most noobish mistake a guy can make when he likes a girl in that way. Even after she died, he remained so infatuated with her that he never had a real life and almost made you wonder if he wanted to dig up her corpse and have sex with it. Creepy guy.

@cookiemonster11217 The story of a guy who loved a girl he couldn't have is sad enough, but to carry that love for years, watching Lilly fall for James, then marry him...no wonder Snape had a grudge against Harry. He was the proof that Lilly belonged to someone else. But Rowling cast him as an invisible hero. Snape's love for Lilly was so strong, that he gave his life to give her son a chance at victory. (Now I'm crying.)
He is a very interesting character in the books, i really wish Rowling would have written more about him. I usually go through the books and search for the parts about snape. Snape had to die in book seven to redeem himself, thats why JK did it. After killing Dumbledore, Snape would have been pushsed into a position where some people would never believe he killed Dumbledore on his orders. Besides, if Snape had lived through the final battle how is he supposed to act towards Harry?? I don't like that he died, but I understand why JK did it. The princes tale was my favorite chapter besides kings cross. :) RIP Severus Snape. <3

@hogwartsluv I hope I don't get flamed, but it just dawned on me that a current view of Judas is that he turned Christ over to the cops at Christ's orders. (It's in the Gnostic Gospels.) Seeing Judas as a Snape-like hero seems to be too much for some people to handle. I never had much religion, but even I was a bit struck to hear about this new interpretation. How tragic to take on such an important role in history, knowing that you'd probably be hated for it...forever. Poor Snape indeed.

@2009Richa If you haven't read Deathly Hallows, the chapter is called The Prince's Tale and is on pages 659-690. I skimmed it recently, so that's why I remember that. :)

This Is so sad to me. As one who used to always be messed with, picked on, and a loner, I know how he feels. For the longest time, I never had a single friend. This is a reason why I love Snape, personally.

People who do not look beyond the words don't understand. He was misunderstood. The only reason he disliked Harry so much was because of all the horrible things James had done to him and how much of James he saw in him. Do you think he wanted that? The only reason he became a death-eater was because he felt it was his only choice. You would too if you were harassed every day. It's not a shocker that he fell for lily, she was the only one who ever stood up for him. I will always love snape.

However, if he was a bad guy, he would never have risked his life protecting Harry all these years.....he didn't have to do that...he could have joined Voldemort to help destroy the child of his enemy and the man who tormented him and eventually took the only thing he ever wanted...Lily.

@tipsytinkerbell Yeah, I sometimes wonder why he didn't actually DO that. Snape was such a cruel and sadistic person that he may as well have just joined Voldemort in the assault on the Potters' house, helped him kill James and Harry, and abducted Lily by force. Then Snape could keep her in chains and have sex with her all he wanted. I bet his only *real* regret is that he didn't do that.

@scarabmango even so, he tried to apologize numerous times (and i'm pretty sure he literally would have done anything to get her to forgive him). and she didn't, but apparently because of certain circumstances, he was sure she did (although he found out it was a misunderstanding and beat himself up over it later)

@scarabmango He didn't treat Harry like that. He was cold towards him because of how much of James he saw in Harry, and how Harry was the offspring of the only woman he loved and the man he hated more than anything in the world. James was an arrogant bastard, especially towards Snape. It's a normal human reaction. And Harry didn't make it easier.
Rowling has said herself that Snape was a hero. And all heros have their faults, you're just picking up on his. Snape wasn't evil. He was in love.

it's been so long since I first saw this vid and I still love it, the song, the pictures, and of course Snape's character...he was a lost person and like all lost people he needed to feel he belonged somewhere(deatheaters), he was worth something(voldy's right hand) and that he was loved by someone...so he got hold of lily and never let her go, the one person that he loved and that loved him as well

it's so sad how many people think snape is the bad guy here, even after the last book. he basically tells the story of a common picked on kid, who just wanted to fit in and make something of himself. and he turned out better than harry's dad did, anyways. i really wish rowling would right a book all about the "sad life of severus snape." this video brought me to tears. thankyou

@cookiemonster11217 The story of a guy who loved a girl he couldn't have is sad enough, but to carry that love for years, watching Lilly fall for James, then marry him...no wonder Snape had a grudge against Harry. He was the proof that Lilly belonged to someone else. But Rowling cast him as an invisible hero. Snape's love for Lilly was so strong, that he gave his life to give her son a chance at victory. (Now I'm crying.)

He is a very interesting character in the books, i really wish Rowling would have written more about him. I usually go through the books and search for the parts about snape. Great job on the video, brought me to tears. It sounds a lot like its snape thats singing the song, which makes this video feel so much more....real! Beautifully done, amazing job 6/5. (ps i wish i could have snape for myself above me slabbing his greasy hair in my face as we furiously make love.) x

Snape had to die in book seven to redeem himself, thats why JK did it. After killing Dumbledore, Snape would have been pushsed into a position where some people would never believe he killed Dumbledore on his orders. Besides, if Snape had lived through the final battle how is he supposed to act towards Harry?? I don't like that he died, but I understand why JK did it. The princes tale was my favorite chapter besides kings cross. :) RIP Severus Snape. <3

@hogwartsluv I hope I don't get flamed, but it just dawned on me that a current view of Judas is that he turned Christ over to the cops at Christ's orders. (It's in the Gnostic Gospels.) Seeing Judas as a Snape-like hero seems to be too much for some people to handle. I never had much religion, but even I was a bit struck to hear about this new interpretation. How tragic to take on such an important role in history, knowing that you'd probably be hated for it...forever. Poor Snape indeed.
