Yeah, i dont think a 4.0 gpa is a necessary attribute of a doctor. As long as you have a (decent) gpa and a good mcat score..your at a good place. People at my high school are so competitive...they all think you need to get into Yale or Harvard to be successful(especially honors students like me). That is totally not true I've come to realize that as long as you study and keep your eye on the goal you will get there.
While it would be nice to have healthcare for everyone including the underfunded communities it is important to note that these programs require higher taxes and reduce health care quality for all of us. U.S. health care spending attributes for 15% of our GDP, the highest in the world, so unless you, me and the rest of the country are willing to give up a good chunk more of our paychecks to Uncle Sam this could be tough to achieve.
