  • Thanks for sharing, interesting!

    Greets.

  • The page you link to (not the biggest secret in the world then if the info is avalable already) says the start of the barcode does "not necessarily indicate the country in which the goods were manufactured" only where the barcode was issued.

    ?

  • And it took you a hole 75 seconds to get around to it. You must have a love affair with your own voice.

  • the info in this video is not correct ... the initial numbers in the barcode do not necessarily describe where the product came from thought the US government, with a few exceptions, does require all food products to be labeled with the name of the originating country.

  • @keneyed209 Try harder, cut what you don't need and invest in the US.

  • Actually the first number in your barcode is 6. It isn't written in number form. Each two bars equal a number. The bars that extend down further then all the others. Are 666. The computer reads those three frist. Which identifies that swatch of barecodes, as a UPC. When they first came out. The 666 was on every UPC. They changed it because of complaints. Removing the 666. Which they now say are, Just dividers.

  • Thank you!

  • This is only partially correct. A barcode only lets you know where the manufacturer obtained the prefix. UPC barcodes do not show a country code....only EAN codes.

If you are an North American Company (US and Canada) and you import from anywhere in the world, your barcodes will still reflect North America.

  • hi thanks for the info,,always something to learn..have a nice holiday!

  • 00:23, 02:57 ... polymorphic failure (slit iris). Its just another REPTILIAN SHAPESHIFTER, a clown.

  • what about clothing. shirts and pants, is it the same thing for anything.?

  • He's not sure, but here we are.

  • hey Dsarti1 un able Error I tryed to Face book your info can not face book and or share video

  • All natural sierra mist is created in the us lol.

  • American manufactures outsource our jobs due to higher wages and union wages. Many conservatives would like to see Unions gone and also reducing the minimum wage down to $2 an hour for those with out a college degree. There are no more US manufactures any more. Many consumers say that the average Americans can not read, stated by Nancy Reagan in the early 1980's.

  • I'd rather buy a product made in China then the USA. USA gives LSD to it's soldiers, it injected it's soldiers in the Persian gulf and fucked them up for life. The pesticides and genetic alterations in their food make it illegal to import alot of American products because they are too toxic. Made in the USA really means made to kill you or make you ill. Countries outside USA actually care about their people and try not to poison or make them ill.

  • nice one, never knew we could read them,i have just been looking at everythin with barcode and few so called"english made" a few are not!

  • Bad information! yes they are country codes, but they tell you what country the bar code was registered in by the manufacturer, not the country of manufacture of the product. So for example I have a tin of baby clams in my cupboard right now sold by an American food company, has a US prefix bar code, but the clams were grown in Thailand, says so on the label.

  • HAVE A GOOD ONE BUBBA!!!!

  • Its a bit obvious that a UPC or Universal Product Code would tell you information relating to the Product it is printed on, how else do you make a unique number that has purpose?

  • The barcode doesn't say where a product is manufactured. Only the country that the barcode is registered. /Sometimes/ this is the same place as the manufacturer. Not always though.

  • Also, if the first 5 numbers on a coupon match the first 5 on the item, you can use that coupon! Even if it is a different item! Long as the mfg is the same!

  • Now we know what you've been doing since Hee-Haw went off the air :)

  • in portugal we learn that "barcode secret" in school XD

    560 - Portugal

  • People need to wake up and start buying American made again

    Thanks for sharing

  • @ShmeegleSon Correct

  • i still like you more and more every video i watch. god bless

  • in u r link its from 0 to13 is uk.and in u r video uk is from 0 to 09.

  • Good info, but most unprocessed foods these days have to declare where they are from. It's called C.O.O.L.: Country Of Origin Labeling. Packages of meat and seafood have to have a label or a sign posted. Same with produce.

  • @CoolasIce2

There is a loophole which allows the importer to code the food with the importers country of origin. I worked for a beer distributer which is an american country that also sells foreign beers but is allowed to sell all products as American beers.

  • just a little help for everyone....The first digit and last digit on a upc=a barcode are outside the lines itself....even though it looks funny it is the first up to four numbers(usually 2-3 but can be four

  • THE QUESTION IS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Would you give to ME if I came and visited you as someone you knew????

  • sure I am full of advice

  • You're like my uncle. None comedic.

  • LMFAO!!!!

    "how you like THEM apples?"

    lol

  • McDonalds uses tracking similar to this to determine where McDonald "trash" comes from which location.

  • Here in Croatia haven't seen a single US product for years. Chinese products everywhere.

  • Wow have you checked the foods too?

  • No US food in Croatia. I guess it's too expensive to transport it all the way around the globe. There are some US brands like Coke, Pepsi, McDonald's, Uncle Ben... but they are produced locally. No Chinese foods either.

  • Hey guess what I found a nice storage cabinet today to expand my food storage area and it was made in America :) Thanks for the tips on the bar codes. So from what I got 47 and 690-692 = Junk :-)

  • Love your vids man.

  • good job! keep the vids coming!

  • Another great video!

  • Actually, heres what the web site says.

"The first two or three digits of an EAN-13 barcode identify the country in which the manufacturer's identification code was assigned. They do not necessarily indicate the country in which the goods were manufactured."

Hey, it's the thought that counts.

  • I have a product in my hand that has a bar code that starts with 038 it says Chatsworth CA, then out beside it says made in China so there is a discrepancy with the numbers.

  • Dave, you should be elected president. If you were president all of us could sleep better at night.

    John

  • All in favor of electing Dave our new and improved president, say "I".

  • Im finding it harder & harder to find where things are made on the packagers these days, this will be in my pocket as I shop now, that bud.

  • The 5 digit long "PLU" number that starts with an 8... is a genetically modified food.... Thought you'd like to know :)

  • Taiwan is not part of China, though China views them with a hateful eye. When the communist revolution occurred in China the former government (capitalist) leadership fled to Taiwan.

China would gobble up Taiwan in a minute if they thought they could get away with it. Taiwan is none too big but they do have a (very) few weapons.

  • thats awesome!

  • Thanks! *****

  • LOL loose lips sink ships hahaha

  • Great video! I will be checking the bar codes now.

  • Very cool! I think I will print that off.

  • thanks very helpful
