I hate the quests that tell me to do impossible things. "Get me metal slime shoes somehow" was all the information I got on a certain quest. Apparently, I'm supposed to go down a grotto that may or may not be hard enough to find an A rank chest that may or may not be there and, upon opening it, I may or may not get metal slime boots. When I accept a quest, I want to progress through it in some way or other. I don't want to put it on hold until I can suddenly complete it by chance. It's painful.

I know. But it's weird that it would be dub at all. Since the name "Dragon Quest" was strictly in Japan till Dragon Quest 8 (I love that game) came to America.

I have DragoN Quest IV, V, and IX, The latter of which I am still playing with my unrealistic goal being to obtain all all the abilities for my main character. I've put my DQIX in Tag Mode and carried it around in my backpack for the first two days of school, but I still haven't obtained a single guest. Why isn't anybody else making a big deal out of Dragon Quest IX?

I am the same. i put down Dragon quest 9 just to get a brake. I cheated to get all the extra quest and it was worth it. I Also just bought a DSi XL. so I can't wait to pick it back up. And it's because they won't know a good game if it hit them in the face.

@YahagiSheibi All those jackasses seem to play is Call of Duty. That game's fine I suppose, but it isn't nearly as good as a lot of franchises that go under their radar. Sakura Wars: So Long My Love is my favorite game, but it only had one hundred fifty thousand sales. And nobody in my school has even heard of Chrono Trigger! Can you believe that?

People aren't making a big deal about it because it's a tired franchise with almost exactly the same setup every time, character designs are same old Toriyama cliches, etc.

@Shoe3003 And yet it sold over four million copies in Japan. At first, it was going to be an action RPG, but that actually got people complaining. It's not that you're playing the same game over and over again when you're buying new sequels, but that you're experiencing more of what you want without added features for the sake of added features. What's wrong with old school turn-based battles, anyway? By the way, Dragon Quest IX does have a multitude of changes, so your argument is invalid.

A lot of people who grew up with the Dragon Quest games are a lot older now and don't have interest in hardcore gaming anymore (or 40+ hours to invest in an rpg). I guess games like DQ9 are fine for the newer generation of gamers, but the DS is not something most older and/or casual gamers own. Me personally, i still have a love for game music soundtracks (i usually can only get them through ebay though), but to be honest I didn't even buy DQ8 when it came out a few years ago.

@MrAngelCrusher This is an anime. The episode number does not matter, as you need to see every episode in order for this type of story to make sense. If you refuse, it will be like mixing up chapters in a book, as in this type of anime, every episode is a continuation of the next.
