I've got several cousins ones a millionaire and lives in Phoinex ! who first introduced me to this style of music (he also had The Stranglers Rattus Norvegicus painted on his bedroom ceiling (how jealous was I)
Hey - that's weird - I also have a cousin called Kevin - he was just like that, but now he is a smack-head, so who is fucking perfect now then, eh- Kevin you total cunt!
I bought this as a 7" single in the first week of release, 1980? I was 17. My workmate thought it was dumb but he was 37 and preferred UB40's "Food for Thought" which came out about the same time. "He thinks that I'm a cabbage coz I hate University Challenge" Class.
raymond was faster, stronger, graduated university first, got married first etc etc etc.
well, kevin is now fat, bald and on the verge of divorce stuck as a nobody in middle management always on the verge of being layed off or fired.
me? i have a higher degree than him, make more money than him in a great profession, still tall and slender with a full head of hair...and oh, am married to a wife who i adore and who adores me!
great punk band those undertones lads. considering the shit that was going on in northern ireland at the time they had every right to be fucking angry and punkish. and good on them too. great great band.
that day doesn't exist it's a figment off your imagination.
i was referring top your name "gorgiewave" i was at love street on the first day of the season after the world cup in mexico, thats where the gorgie wave started.
I TRAVELLED THROUGH ON MY OWN THAT DAY TO MEET A COUPLE OF ST MIRREN FANS I MET IN SPAIN DURING THE SUMMER OF 86.
I just saw the Waco Brothers do a FAB cover of "Teenage Kicks", which made me miss the Undertones all the more. I salute you, lads! Ye may be gone, but will always be loved!
I saw them in California on their tour last year. EXCELLENT! Even the new songs were great. Too bad they couldn't get Feargal, but whatever happened runs deep I guess.
Has there been any explanation why Feargal did rejoin with the others? I can imagine a few reasons, just like to see it verbalized. (And of course, nobody here even KNOWS who the Undertones are, so news on them is zilch in the States).
He moves like Suggs xD

Wow, I actually saw these guys in 1980 at
Detroit's old Punch & Judy Theater, they had a
hot local band called Attack, warm up, but this
song, for whatever reason, I remember.

I love the line, 'he'll never be left on the shelf 'cause Kevin, he's in love with himself.' Says it all.
dommywaddle 3 years ago 2
This song includes the best lyric ever written:
'He always beat me at Subuteo
'cos he flicked to kick, and I didn't know'
i think billy shakespeare would have liked that one
